Job Overview

The Director, Separation (EMEA) plays a critical leadership role in enabling the successful separation of the Orthopedics business into a standalone DePuy Synthes organization. This role leads Supply Chain separation activities across EMEA Cluster 1, ensuring continuity of supply, operational readiness, regulatory compliance, and cost‑effective execution throughout the transition. The role partners closely with global SC&O, regional leaders, and cross‑functional stakeholders to deliver a seamless, low‑risk separation while laying the foundation for future operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead EMEA 1 Supply Chain separation planning and execution within the Deliver – SC&O organization, aligned to global separation strategy and milestones.

  • Own end‑to‑end transition readiness for manufacturing, distribution, logistics, planning, and customer fulfillment activities within scope.

  • Drive cross‑functional coordination with Quality, Regulatory, IT, Finance, Procurement, and Commercial teams to ensure uninterrupted supply and compliance.

  • Oversee disentanglement of systems, processes, third‑party relationships, and service agreements, ensuring risks are identified and mitigated.

  • Lead regional separation governance, tracking progress against timelines, cost targets, and risk mitigation plans, and escalating issues as needed.

  • Partner with global and regional leaders to design future‑state Supply Chain operating models for the standalone DePuy Synthes organization.

  • Provide people leadership and direction to project teams and workstream leads, fostering accountability, engagement, and change adoption.

  • Ensure adherence to Johnson & Johnson Credo values, safety standards, and local regulatory and labor requirements throughout the separation.

Qualifications

Education

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.

  • Preferred: Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) or advanced Supply Chain/Operations qualification.

Experience and Skills

Required:

  • 10+ years experience in Supply Chain, Operations, or related functions within a global, regulated environment.

  • Proven leadership experience at Director level, leading complex, cross‑regional initiatives.

  • Demonstrated experience in large‑scale transformation, separation, integration, or restructuring programs.

  • Strong knowledge of end‑to‑end Supply Chain operations, including manufacturing, distribution, logistics, and planning.

  • Experience managing risk, dependencies, and stakeholder alignment in highly complex environments.

Preferred:

  • Experience within medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or other highly regulated industries.

  • Prior experience leading regional or global separation or carve‑out initiatives.

  • Familiarity with EMEA Supply Chain networks and regulatory requirements.

  • Strong change management and organizational design experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to build future‑state operating models and drive continuous improvement post‑transition.

  • Excellent communication, influence, and decision‑making skills across senior leadership audiences.

Other:

  • Languages: Fluent in English; additional European languages are an advantage.

  • Travel: Limited; Up to 25% international travel within EMEA, as required.

  • Certifications: Lean, Six Sigma, or Project Management certifications preferred.

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals.
