Job Description:

J&J Innovative Medicine, Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for Sr. Product Manager- Oncology, based in Mumbai.

This position is an individual contributor, and the incumbent will be responsible to lead strategic planning and execution for key oncology assets, driving growth through data-driven insights, competitive intelligence, and strong cross-functional alignment.

This individual will play a pivotal role in forecasting, market development, portfolio prioritisation, and launch excellence, while ensuring alignment with global strategy and local market dynamics.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Planning & Portfolio Management

  • Lead development of annual brand plans and long-range strategic plans for assigned oncology assets

  • Define target patient segments, treatment pathways, and positioning strategy across lines of therapy

  • Identify growth opportunities through indication expansion, biomarker segmentation, and treatment sequencing

2. Market Analytics & Forecasting

  • Own and refine patient funnel models (incident and prevalence-based approaches)

  • Develop robust forecasts integrating epidemiology, treatment rates, and line-of-therapy progression

  • Conduct scenario analysis and sensitivity testing

  • Translate complex data into clear, executive-ready insights

3. Competitive Intelligence & Insights

  • Monitor and synthesise competitor activity

  • Develop concise points of view (POVs) and implications for portfolio strategy

  • Benchmark against competitors on efficacy, safety, sequencing, and access strategy

4. Go-to-Market & Launch Excellence

  • Lead pre-launch and launch readiness activities for new indications or assets

  • Define value proposition, key messaging, and differentiation strategy

  • Ideate, develop, and execute high-impact marketing collaterals aligned to brand strategy across channels (HCP, patient, and digital touchpoints)

  • Ensure consistency in messaging and visual identity across all promotional materials

  • Work with Medical, Market Access, and Sales teams to drive cohesive and high-quality execution

5. Cross-functional Leadership

  • Partner with Medical Affairs, Market Access, Sales, Regulatory, and Global teams to ensure aligned execution

  • Drive consensus across stakeholders while managing complex trade-offs

  • Act as a bridge between global strategy and local execution

6. Stakeholder Communication & Executive Reporting

  • Develop high-impact presentations for leadership

  • Communicate performance, risks, and strategic pivots clearly and concisely

  • Ensure consistent messaging and terminology across all materials

Experiences and Skills

  • Brand and Product Management – Understands brand and therapy area’s dynamics & its key competitors. Familiar with marketing frameworks

  • Market Knowledge & Strategy: Able to tease out qualitative insights from the field and synthesize to drive brand growth. Derive value out of primary and secondary market research data as well as from customer interactions

  • Segmentation, Targeting and Positioning – Understands customer behaviors, motivations; defines gap and designs tactics to address the same

  • Integrated Marketing Communication – Drives right content to right audience at right time through right channel. Measures effectiveness and course correct as needed

  • Customer Experience - Ensure objective application of Segmentation, Targeting and Positioning to ensure superior value proposition for customers

  • Financial Acumen – utilizes and tracks A&SP budget and volume vs value analysis

  • Curious with a growth mindset - Update on the latest in marketing communications, technology, data analytics as it relates to product management.

  • Growing Digital – leveraging “Digital” as strategic lever, experience with digital communications and keeps up with digital Marketing trends in healthcare.

  • Risk and reputation management – partners with Regulatory, legal, compliance; monitors competitor trends; ensures brand compliance

  • Collaborative, team-player, ability to influence without authority across the matrix

External key customers: Doctors, Doctors’ Associations, Vendors, Research and Advertising Agencies.

Internal key customers: Marketing and Sales Teams, Franchise Leadership Team, Finance, Medical Affairs, Operations, Regulatory, Legal, Compliance, Quality, IT.

Education:

  • MBA/ Diploma in Marketing Management from a reputed institute

  • Preferably Life Science graduate.

Experience and Skills:

  • 5-8 years of work experience in Sales & Marketing, Pharma, Healthcare & Life Science industry.

  • Proven leadership, strategic thinking, and interpersonal skills, demonstrating ability to drive collaboration across teams, and support prudent risk-taking with high integrity standard.

  • Demonstrates how to lead and influence within a matrix organization

  • Ability to build strong networks in- and outside of company

  • Ability to leverage knowledge of marketplace and competitor landscape translate them into clear short term and long-term strategies.

  • Self-driven with proven track record of innovative approach and learning agility and effectiveness of working with various stakeholders in a matrix organization

  • Exposure to both sales and marketing is preferred.
