Job Description:

Director, Strategy & PMO – Global Trade Controls

The Global Trade Controls (GTC) organization is recruiting a Director, Strategy and PMO based in New Brunswick, NJ, with consideration given at the discretion of the business to other J&J site locations within the US.

The Director serves as a critical strategic leader within GTC, and directly with the Vice President of Global Trade Controls to drive strategic direction, strengthen organizational effectiveness, and ensure disciplined execution across a highly complex and regulated global environment.

The Director acts as an integrator across segments, functions, and regions—advancing the GTC strategic agenda, guiding enterprise-level initiatives, and enabling seamless connectivity with Supply Chain, Legal, Procurement, Quality, R&D, and Commercial teams. The position is a member of the GTC Leadership Team and requires a strong strategic mindset, exceptional communication skills, and demonstrated experience navigating a matrixed organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Business Planning

  • Lead development and refresh of the multi‑year GTC strategy in alignment with business priorities.
  • Drive annual business planning, strategic roadmaps, and key capability‑building initiatives.
  • Translate strategic objectives into actionable plans with clear milestones, KPIs, and governance mechanisms.
  • Conduct scenario analysis and strategy optimization proposals.

PMO to the VP, Global Trade Controls

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner on priority initiatives and executive forums.
  • Orchestrate the GTC operating rhythm, including LT meetings, townhalls, quarterly business reviews, enterprise updates, annual strategy sessions, and key external engagements.
  • Ensure follow‑through on commitments, decisions, and cross-functional actions.
  • Prepare executive-level briefs, narratives, and presentations as needed for the VP of GTC.

Program & Portfolio Management

  • Oversee the GTC strategic initiative portfolio, ensuring alignment to priorities, resourcing, and risk mitigation.
  • Lead global, cross-functional programs that elevate compliance maturity and operational excellence.
  • Establish consistent frameworks, dashboards, and analytics to track performance and compliance health.
  • Support transformational initiatives such as digital capabilities, global process harmonization, and enterprise compliance modernization.

Organizational Effectiveness & Governance

  • Strengthen organizational governance models, steering committees, and cross-functional engagement mechanisms.
  • Partner with HR to support talent planning, succession, workforce development, and organizational design.
  • Drive change management and communication strategies that foster transparency, engagement, and alignment across J&J’s global network.
  • Lead budget planning, resource management, and organizational design work in partnership with GTC VP, Finance and HR.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Law, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Global Trade Compliance, Supply Chain, Regulatory, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategy development, business planning, PMO leadership, or Chief‑of‑Staff‑type roles in a global, matrixed organization.
  • Exceptional communication and executive presence, with proven ability to influence senior leaders.
  • Experience leading cross-functional programs with global scope and diverse stakeholder groups.

Preferred

  • Advanced degree (MBA, JD, Master’s in International Trade/Supply Chain).
  • Experience within a regulated industry, particularly healthcare.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with data analytics, performance dashboards, and structured problem solving.
  • Experience leading global teams or virtual networks.

Other:

This position is preferably located in New Jersey (New Brunswick office) with consideration given to other J&J sites located in the US. The position may require up to 25% domestic and international travel.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

$150,000.00 - $258,750.00

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).



This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.



Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

Vacation –120 hours per calendar year

Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado –48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year

Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year

Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year

Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child

Bereavement Leave – 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year

Caregiver Leave – 80 hours in a 52-week rolling period10 days

Volunteer Leave – 32 hours per calendar year

Military Spouse Time-Off – 80 hours per calendar year
