Johnson & Johnson is currently seeking a Student Research Assistant to join our Research Team located in Aachen

Position Overview - Tasks & Responsibilities:

As an intern you will be a part of our R&D team and support the team in chemical analysis and prototyping of our next generation products. Tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Work in Chemical Lab
  • Support in research and development of products and processes like
    • Polymer synthesis, surface modifications
    • 3D printing, injection molding
  • Build concepts for medical devices and mechanical test setups
  • Executes protocols for testing product performance (Tensile testing, Contact angle, DSC, NMR, XPS, XRD, etc)
  • Conduct experiments, collect and document results to statistically analyze and validate parameters of new or modified method/processes.
  • Support in scouting scientific/technical papers and patents on topics relevant to work
  • Assistance with maintenance of equipment/devices

Qualifications - Education and Experience:

  • Ongoing university degree with Polymer sciences background
  • Or more specifically: Polymer or Chemical Engineering student (min. 2 years of study) with polymer-synthesis or polymer-physical expertise.

Qualifications - Skills:

  • Interest in the areas of product development and medical devices
  • Fluent in English and German
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization and participate effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Capacity to work under strict timelines
  • Skills design, mechanical testing and validation
  • Basic statistical knowledge
  • Comfortable with reading and reviewing technical documents and drawings
