The Global Commercial Strategy Organization (GCSO) is recruiting for a Director, Global Compound Market Access Leader (CMAL) in Neuroscience based in Raritan, NJ.
This role operates on a hybrid model (3 days per week on‑site), consistent with industry standards and designed to balance flexibility with collaboration.
This is a senior strategic leadership role accountable for defining and delivering the global market access strategy for assigned Neuroscience asset(s) within JJIM’s industry-leading Neuroscience portfolio. The CMAL serves as the Market Access accountable owner at the compound level and is a core decision‑making partner to Global Commercial, R&D, Medical Affairs, and Regional Access leaders.
This role is designed for leaders who want to operate at the intersection of science, evidence, policy, and commercial strategy, and who have direct influence on development decisions, launch sequencing, and long‑term value realization.
Why This Role Matters
Market Access at J&J is a strategic driver of enterprise value. As a CMAL, you will directly shape how our transformational innovations reach patients globally—by influencing clinical development choices, evidence generation strategies, pricing frameworks, and payer engagement approaches from early development through lifecycle management.
You will operate with clear decision rights, senior leader visibility, and real strategic impact, ensuring access considerations are embedded early, coherently, and credibly across the asset strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Global Access Strategy & Asset Leadership
Own and lead the global market access strategy for the asset(s), fully aligned with global asset and portfolio priorities
Serve as the Market Access lead on the Compound Development Team (CDT), influencing key decisions on clinical development, indication prioritization, patient segmentation, endpoints, evidence generation, and launch sequencing
Integrate pricing, health economics and outcomes research (HEOR), real-world evidence (RWE), access policy, and payer insights into a clear and compelling global value strategy
Evidence & Development Influence
Shape integrated evidence generation strategies to strengthen compound development plan and support payer/HTA needs
Partner with CDT to ensure programs meet payer/HTA and policy expectations across key markets
Lead the design of health outcomes studies, economic models, and real‑world evidence strategies that support sustainable reimbursement
Regional & Cross‑Functional Alignment
Drive strong collaboration and strategic alignment within GCSO 3M team (Marketing, Market Access, and Medical Affairs) to enable a unified strategy and clear, timely decision-making across functions
Build and lead a high‑performing cross-functional Compound Market Access Team (CMAT) and Extended Market Access Team (EMAT), driving clarity of roles, decision rights, and strategic focus
Collaborate closely with Regional Access, Pricing, and Policy teams to deliver coordinated strategies to support timely and optimal reimbursement outcomes across key geographies
Lead early scientific advice, payer research, and external engagement strategies to anticipate and mitigate access risks
Leadership & Capability Building
Actively coach and develop Market Access talent within the matrix, fostering strategic thinking, clarity of ownership, and accountability
Serve as a thought leader within GCSO on evolving access trends, particularly in Neuroscience
Experience & Capabilities
Advanced degree (Master’s required; PhD, PharmD, MD preferred)
8 years of professional experience in the pharmaceutical industry (global, regional or operating company level) with a focus on Market Access, HEOR, or payer-related roles
Minimum of 4 years’ experience in the reimbursement landscape across key international markets, preferably in a Market Access Lead role with extensive payer negotiation experience
Proven ability to influence clinical, commercial, and evidence decisions in a complex, matrixed environment
Strong understanding of global HTA, pricing dynamics, and payer decision‑making
Demonstrated leadership without authority and comfort operating at senior levels
Growth & Development

High visibility to Global Neuroscience and Market Access leadership
A strong platform for progression into broader portfolio, TA, or enterprise Market Access leadership roles
