Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals.

Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes, and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes.

We are searching for the best talent for the 4 years Apprentice Tool Room Technician role (x2) to be located in Cork, Ireland.

As an Apprentice Tool Room Technician, you will:

  • Assist in the manufacture, modification, and inspection of precision components using manual and CNC machining techniques

  • Work with Toolroom technicians and engineers to troubleshoot tooling-related production issues

  • Support preventative maintenance activities to ensure tooling availability and performance

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance tool performance, reliability, and cost efficiency

  • Maintain accurate records in line with GMP and quality system requirements

  • Follow all safety procedures and contribute to a safe working environment

  • Support production teams by ensuring tooling is available, compliant, and fit for purpose

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering teams

  • Actively participate in the structured apprenticeship programme, including academic and on-the-job learning.

Qualification/requirement:

  • Leaving Certificate with a pass in Math and English

  • A positive mind-set, teamwork ethos, and ability to apply own initiative as required

  • Practical experience is desirable but not required

Apprenticeship:

  • Post course Qualification: Level 6 SOLAS accredited technical qualification at the end of 4-years apprenticeship program (based on successful completion of all course requirements)

  • College attendance: As per college schedule

  • On site work shift: Monday -Friday, days (39 hrs). CORE hours as per business requirements
