About the Role

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a highly experienced Senior Local Trial Manager to join our Global Clinical Operations (GCO) team.

This is a senior clinical operations role responsible for the end-to-end management and oversight of clinical trials at the country level. The Lead Local Trial Manager serves as the primary local contact for assigned studies, ensuring high-quality execution from study start-up through closeout while maintaining compliance with protocol requirements, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), company procedures, and local regulatory standards.

The successful candidate will play a key role in leading local study delivery, driving operational excellence, mentoring colleagues, and collaborating with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate local clinical trial activities to ensure delivery of quality data, on time and within budget.

  • Act as the primary country-level contact for assigned clinical studies.

  • Support study feasibility and site selection activities in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

  • Develop and implement local trial plans, recruitment strategies, risk mitigation plans, and contingency actions.

  • Monitor study progress, identify risks, and implement corrective and preventive actions when needed.

  • Ensure compliance with study protocols, GCP, local regulations, and company standards.

  • Oversee local regulatory and ethics committee submissions and approvals.

  • Collaborate with investigators, study coordinators, vendors, and cross-functional partners to drive successful study execution.

  • Contribute to budget planning, forecasting, and financial tracking for assigned studies.

  • Review study documentation, monitoring reports, site activities, and vendor deliverables.

  • Support audits, inspections, and quality improvement activities.

  • Mentor and coach clinical operations colleagues while contributing to capability-building initiatives and process improvements.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Nursing, Life Sciences, or another relevant scientific discipline.

  • Significant experience in clinical trial management within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or CRO environment.

  • Strong understanding of clinical development, ICH-GCP, and local regulatory requirements.

  • Experience managing complex clinical studies and multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management capabilities.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • Fluent in English and the local country language.

  • Willingness to travel as required.

Preferred

  • Therapeutic area expertise within one or more key disease areas.

  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives, process improvement efforts, or operational excellence programs.

  • Experience leveraging digital and AI-enabled tools to improve productivity, decision-making, and study delivery.
