About the Role
Johnson & Johnson is seeking a highly experienced Senior Local Trial Manager to join our Global Clinical Operations (GCO) team.
This is a senior clinical operations role responsible for the end-to-end management and oversight of clinical trials at the country level. The Lead Local Trial Manager serves as the primary local contact for assigned studies, ensuring high-quality execution from study start-up through closeout while maintaining compliance with protocol requirements, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), company procedures, and local regulatory standards.
The successful candidate will play a key role in leading local study delivery, driving operational excellence, mentoring colleagues, and collaborating with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate local clinical trial activities to ensure delivery of quality data, on time and within budget.
Act as the primary country-level contact for assigned clinical studies.
Support study feasibility and site selection activities in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Develop and implement local trial plans, recruitment strategies, risk mitigation plans, and contingency actions.
Monitor study progress, identify risks, and implement corrective and preventive actions when needed.
Ensure compliance with study protocols, GCP, local regulations, and company standards.
Oversee local regulatory and ethics committee submissions and approvals.
Collaborate with investigators, study coordinators, vendors, and cross-functional partners to drive successful study execution.
Contribute to budget planning, forecasting, and financial tracking for assigned studies.
Review study documentation, monitoring reports, site activities, and vendor deliverables.
Support audits, inspections, and quality improvement activities.
Mentor and coach clinical operations colleagues while contributing to capability-building initiatives and process improvements.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Nursing, Life Sciences, or another relevant scientific discipline.
Significant experience in clinical trial management within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or CRO environment.
Strong understanding of clinical development, ICH-GCP, and local regulatory requirements.
Experience managing complex clinical studies and multiple priorities simultaneously.
Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management capabilities.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Fluent in English and the local country language.
Willingness to travel as required.
Preferred
Therapeutic area expertise within one or more key disease areas.
Experience leading cross-functional initiatives, process improvement efforts, or operational excellence programs.
Experience leveraging digital and AI-enabled tools to improve productivity, decision-making, and study delivery.
