Objectives and Responsibilities
The CSC-P&T (Clinical Supply Chain – Packaging & Technology) group is responsible for flawless delivery of clinical supplies manufactured (device assembly and packaging & labeling – P&L) in CSC-Beerse, as well as within the external network of P&L vendors. Within CSC-P&T Beerse, device assembly, primary and secondary packaging and labeling activities are done in accordance with the cGMP regulations.
The Associate Director, Packaging & Tech Operations acts as a leader, overseeing the internal manufacturing activities and giving strategic direction to his/her organization, in collaboration with the Director, Packaging & Technology Operations.
Main Duties / Additional Duties / Sphere of authority
People leader:
- Lead the Beerse CSC-P&T operations department by providing technical, operational and strategic leadership, managing the budget and resource allocation.
- Ensure that the required initial and continued training of the department personnel is carried out and adapted according to needs.
- Create engagement and a culture of collaboration, flexibility, and competitiveness by increasing business acumen, industry knowledge and skills.
- Ensure a safe work environment for the department staff.
- Attract and develop operational talent to grow the organization according to strategic priorities
- Ensure a constructive relationship with the social partners.
Clinical operations:
- Ensure that products are produced and stored according to the appropriate documentation, cGMP guidelines and procedures.
- Ensure that clinical supplies are assembled, packaged and labelled on time, in full, right first time, and within budget.
- Ensure continuous operational efficiency and process- and quality improvements by using the lean methodology.
- Contribute to the department’s strategy and translate the strategy into operational objectives and ensure timely implementation of the objectives. Take strategic decisions based on the long-term strategy of the CSC department.
- Support the implementation of innovative technologies to support the J&J’s evolving clinical portfolio.
- Be the business owner of our Just-In-Time manufacturing capabilities, in collaboration with DC Beerse.
- Ensure the qualification and maintenance of the CSC-P&T Beerse staff, premise and equipment. Ensure that the appropriate validations are done.
- Develop excellent working relationships with the other groups within Clinical Supply Chain, as well with the CSC Quality group.
- Lead the Change Control processes related to new systems/processes/equipment.
- Ensure that every Quality Issue and Product Quality Complaint related to the packaging and/or labelling activities is thoroughly investigated and documented in a timely fashion.
- Ensure that appropriate corrective and/or preventative actions are defined to prevent re-occurrence.
- Work with the prevention coordinator to ensure that the plant fully complies with the applicable regulations (PBOEL4, controlled substance regulations, etc...).
Quality:
- Participate in management reviews of process performance, product quality and of the quality management system and advocating continual improvement.
- Ensure that a timely and effective communication and escalation process exists to raise quality issues to the appropriate levels of management.
Profile needed for this function
Knowledge:
- Strong operational and planning skills, rigorous in execution and disciplined follow-up.
- Able to set a long-term vision and strategy for an operational/manufacturing unit
- Experience in deployment of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement programs, with demonstrated results, in a manufacturing and operations environment
- Excellent knowledge of GMP and EHS considerations
- Excellent people management and leadership skills
- A proven ability to execute and get results through leading others
- Ability to work in a cross-functional and cross-cultural environment
Degree:
Technical master education or equivalent based on experience. A background in pharmaceutical science, chemical science and/or production is an asset.
At least 10 years of relevant experience in an operational pharmaceutical environment. Experience as a people leader is required.

€96,000.00 - €165,025.00Benefits:
