We are searching for the best talent for Payroll Specialist (fixed-term).


Position Summary

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for supporting end-to-end payroll operations to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing for employees in Korea. This role partners closely with Human Resources, Finance, external payroll vendors, and government authorities to maintain payroll integrity, statutory compliance, and employee satisfaction while supporting ongoing payroll initiatives and process improvements.

[Responsibilities]

Payroll Operations

  • Process monthly payroll activities, including payroll calculation, validation, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Support payroll-related transactions including severance payments, retirement pension settlements, and other employee compensation matters.
  • Review payroll data for accuracy and completeness while ensuring compliance with company policies and local regulations.
  • Coordinate with payroll vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve payroll discrepancies and issues in a timely manner.

Tax & Social Insurance Administration

  • Manage statutory payroll activities including income tax, resident tax, national pension, health insurance, employment insurance, and industrial accident compensation insurance.
  • Prepare and validate payroll-related tax filings and social insurance submissions.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Korean labor, payroll, and tax regulations.

Off-boarding Support

  • Manage final payroll activities for terminated employees, including severance calculations, retirement pension administration, and relevant documentation.
  • Prepare and provide required documents and certificates relating to employee termination and payroll records.

Year-End Tax Activities

  • Support annual Year-End Tax Settlement processes.
  • Coordinate employee communications and documentation related to year-end tax filings.
  • Review and reconcile tax data to ensure regulatory compliance and accurate employee reporting.

Compliance, Audit & Reporting

  • Support internal and external audits by preparing payroll-related data, documentation, and reports.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Projects & Process Improvement

  • Support implementation of payroll system updates, process standardization, and continuous improvement activities.

Employee Support

  • Respond to employee inquiries related to payroll, taxation, social insurance, and payroll policies.
  • Provide timely and professional support to employees and stakeholders regarding payroll-related matters.

[Requirement]

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in payroll operations, compensation administration, HR operations, accounting, or related areas.
  • Strong knowledge of Korean payroll regulations, labor laws, tax regulations, and social insurance programs.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data validation, and reporting.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential employee information with discretion and integrity.
  • Good command of English in both written and verbal communication.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Preferred

  • Experience working with global payroll vendors or multinational organizations.
  • Experience supporting payroll audits, statutory reporting, or year-end tax settlement processes.
