This leader is responsible for driving the strategic planning, operating model evolution, measurement and insights agenda, communications technology ecosystem, budget governance, vendor management, process excellence, and capability-building efforts that enable MT CPA to operate with greater agility, efficiency, creativity, and measurable business impact. As part of our new operating model, this role will also need to create scalable operations platforms and processes to support our BU CPA teams.

The role serves as a catalyst for modernization—bringing external perspectives, emerging technologies, industry standards, and innovative tools and operating models into the organization to continuously strengthen how MT CPA delivers value. This includes actively assessing the effectiveness of core MT CPA processes that enable business growth, protect and build reputation, and strengthen J&J employee culture.

Finally, this leader plays an active role in advancing MT CPA’s Credo-based culture by developing and leading programs that increase team connection, engagement, learning, and impact, while representing MedTech in key Global Corporate Affairs forums and bringing enterprise priorities and best practices back into the function.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy, Transformation & Operating Model

  • Partner with the MT CPA Leadership Team to define and operationalize the function’s strategic priorities, transformation roadmap, and annual planning process.

  • Bring external insights, benchmarks, emerging trends, and best practices to help modernize the function and ensure MT CPA remains future-ready.

Operations, Governance & Business Management

  • Lead MT CPA operating mechanisms, leadership team routines, business reviews, budget governance, vendor management, and priority project management processes.
  • Drive operational rigor across planning, prioritization, resource management, decision-making, and execution to ensure the function delivers against enterprise and MedTech priorities.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on organizational performance, investment decisions, operational effectiveness, process improvement, and transformation progress.

Insights, Analytics & Measurement

  • Build and lead MT CPA’s insights, analytics, and measurement framework to demonstrate communications impact and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Oversee stakeholder research, reputation insights, performance reporting, dashboards, and executive-level recommendations that help leaders understand progress and opportunities.
  • Translate data, external intelligence, and internal feedback into actionable insights that improve planning, prioritization, ways of working, and business outcomes.

Communications Technology & Digital Enablement

  • Set the vision, strategy, and governance for MT CPA’s communications technology ecosystem, including tools that support planning, workflow, collaboration, content, measurement, reporting, and knowledge management.
  • Identify and advance opportunities to leverage AI, automation, digital platforms, and emerging technologies to improve productivity, effectiveness, creativity, and speed.
  • Develop scalable playbooks, workflows, templates, and digital resources for common communications activities, including editorial planning, event management, M&A communications, media relations, reputation campaigns, and employee engagement.

Capability Building, Change & Credo Culture

  • Lead communications and change management efforts related to MT CPA transformation, operating model evolution, capability building, and new ways of working.
  • Play an active leadership role in strengthening MT CPA’s Credo-based culture by developing and leading programs, forums, and initiatives that increase connection, engagement, learning, inclusion, and impact.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, experimentation, accountability, collaboration, and external orientation to help the function evolve with the changing communications landscape.

  • Represent MedTech on key Global Corporate Affairs councils, forums, and working groups, ensuring MT CPA is aligned to enterprise priorities and contributing actively to broader functional advancement.
  • Build strong partnerships across GCA, MedTech, business units, regions, and enterprise functions to advance shared priorities, increase connectivity, and strengthen execution excellence.
