We are searching for the best talent for a Production Mechanic.

· Makes key day-to-day contributions as a support individual team member who analyzes and executes tasks that are typically routine.

· Provides inter-departmental support on an ad-hoc basis to support the Production Equipment Repair & Maintenance goals and objectives.

· Follows and applies routine administrative processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and quality of deliverables.

· Complies with high standards of professionalism, efficiency, personal communication, discretion, and independent judgment.

· Performs installation, maintenance, and repairs on manufacturing equipment. Ensures that appropriate records are maintained.

· Safely and efficiently executes daily tasks related to the maintenance of Equipment for the production of Absorbable & Non-Absorbable, molded, and Needle manufacturing materials manufacturing materials in an FDA-regulated environment. Typical tasks include Preventive Maintenance to equipment including the troubleshooting and repair of components, oil changes, testing, installing, and the removal of equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

In accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:

· Complies with managerial requirements for core tasks for the support function of the Production Equipment Repair & Maintenance unit, and follows routine administrative processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and quality of deliverables.

· Organizes collective data relative to the technical implementation, modification, and ongoing monitoring of the quality, safety and efficiency of discrete production of unit-based items assembled from component parts.

· Compiles strategic data to communicate with Manufacturing Engineers to develop Repair and Maintenance schematics for the rollout of new and improved repair and maintenance processes, tools and equipment.

· Helps develop operational control standards and testing equipment to assess conformance with engineering specifications, including test apparatus of raw materials, parts, components, finished items and packaging.

· Helps identify and escalates technical production line problems to minimize finished item rejection levels, monitoring gauges and other indicators of production equipment and machinery performance.

· Demonstrates Johnson & Johnson’s Leadership Imperatives and Credo.

· Inspects, completes and coordinates maintenance of manufacturing equipment which may include mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems.

· Plans, coordinates and performs installation, setups and changeovers of machinery.

· Tests and makes adjustments as needed.

· Diagnoses and repairs malfunctioning equipment.

· Recommends and implements process improvements.

· Updates required documentation including maintenance and repair logs.

· Prepares trouble reports for malfunctioning equipment.

· Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.

· Applies safety procedures to all work. Orders parts and supplies in accordance with department procedures.

· Operate all portable power tools and hand tools in assigned production area, drills, wrenches, grinders, measuring devices and meters to trouble shoot and repair production equipment.

· Read and work from detailed wiring diagrams, machine blueprints and pipe layout diagrams.

· Participate in and work with a production team environment. Receive direction from team members and production/engineering supervisor/facilitator.

· Work with limited direction in effectively diagnose problems and repair the equipment in a timely manner.

· Works towards effectively managing deadlines in completing breakdown, maintenance, and project activities.

· Ability to make critical decisions under pressure on breakdowns.

· Ability to operate basic PLC controls on production equipment.

· Associates in this position are required to be “on call” as defined in the “On Call Policy” and the Fair labor Standards Act and are required by management to respond to emergency or essential work situations on established departmental schedules.

· Ability to effectively manage WO creation and completion in CMMS.

· Set up precision equipment to specification e.g. VICRYL Extruders.

· Understand production machinery in order to effectively diagnose problems and repair equipment in a timely manner with little or no direction.

· Provide direction to other lower-level production mechanic.

· Make decisions involving judgment as to the criticality of equipment during breakdowns, with the initiative to repair as needed for the process.

· Ability to perform difficult work when only general to limited instructions are available.

· Ability to consistently manage a variety of tasks, some being very time consuming, while under pressure of the process and production requirements. Identify creative solutions while conforming to specifications and safety requirements.

· Perform highly specialized troubleshooting and repair work with little or minimal direction. Ability to perform difficult and detailed work when limited instructions are available.

· Ability to work independently towards a general result.

· Use test equipment (Starett Gauge, Mitutoyo Gauge, Microscope, etc.) where applicable. Utilize applicable software systems as needed for the job (e.g. ComplianceWire, ADAPTIV, etc.)

· Consistently meet required work performance targets (RE’s), if applicable

· Support LEAN and Six Sigma Initiatives.

· Support Maintenance Excellence (ME2) including 6S and Operator Asset Care.

· Accurately complete records as defined within the job procedures (e.g. manual and/or electronic documentation).

· Consistently meet required Training due date targets

· Perform preventative maintenance on all production equipment in area assigned according to the schedule, keeping neat and correct records.

· Make general decisions on equipment operation and breakdowns.

· Determine necessary tools and material requirements for specific assignments.

· Interface with appropriate manufacturing representatives to ensure manufacturing operations and projects receive effective technical support

· Follow current compliance regulations and standards to include JSA’s.

· Support Plant diversity Process.

· Adhere to FDA quality and worldwide quality systems.

· Perform work in a safe manner, as well as, keeping equipment clean and in safe working condition

· Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level

· Responsible for following all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices as applicable.

· For those who supervise or manage a staff, responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable

· Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures

· Performs other duties assigned as needed

Experience and Education

· Generally, Requires 4-6 Years Work Experience

· High school education, G.E.D. or equivalent skills, experience, or training e.g. Georgia Work Ready (preferred).

· Minimum of two years electrical electronic or mechanical technical school, equivalent formal training, military training or experience preferred.

Required Skills:

· Computer skills.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal relation skills.

· Technical troubleshooting skills.

· Prefer knowledge of lean manufacturing and manufacturing processes such as Just in Time (JIT), KANBAN, Pull Systems.

· Basic math skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide, percentages
