Overview of the Role
Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Manager, Procurement CCPM, to support Capital Construction, Project Management & Capital Equipment expenditure in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. This is a site-based role, and the Schaffhausen site is the only location for this posting. The role provides procurement leadership across sourcing, supplier management, contract execution, value delivery, and operational excellence for Capital Construction and Project Management and Capital Equipment related CAPEX categories supporting site investment projects.
J&J continues to invest significant capital to build, expand, retrofit, and optimize assets across manufacturing sites, laboratories, distribution, and offices. This role helps enable speed-to-market, supply chain excellence, and employee experience through market-leading safety, productivity, cost, and technology/innovation outcomes, supported by strategic supplier partnerships in Architecture, Engineering, Construction & Project Management, Commissioning, Qualification, Project Safety and Controls.
Collaboration and Delivery
The Manager, Procurement CCPM will work closely with Engineering & Property Services (E&PS) and Global Engineering Technology (GET), particularly Engineering Design, Project Delivery, Construction, and site engineering teams. The role also partners with suppliers providing Architectural & Engineering (A&E), Construction Management (CM), Automation, and Commissioning & Qualification (C&Q) services, as well as with local and regional business stakeholders, to support successful project delivery.
Organisational Context
The CCPM and CE categories sit within the Capital, Construction & Facilities Services family and supports Johnson & Johnson’s Enterprise Procurement and Supply Chain Services Procurement priorities. The role acts as a strategic procurement partner to site leadership, Plant/Facility Engineering, Technical Services, Quality, Finance, EHS, and Procurement leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
· Category leadership and sourcing: Implement and support category strategies for Capital Construction, Capital Equipment and related CAPEX categories, including negotiated agreements, preferred suppliers, value engineering, sourcing execution, contract implementation, compliance, and target delivery.
· Spend, value, and financial performance: Manage medium- to high-complexity spend in partnership with internal and external stakeholders. Deliver value by optimising cost, capability, cash flow, schedule, risk, and service outcomes while supporting savings, value creation, and financial commitments.
· Supplier selection and contract management: Lead supplier selection, commercial negotiations, contract execution, ongoing supplier relationship management, and supplier performance improvement, with a focus on quality, reliability, compliance, sustainability, innovation, and business continuity.
· Strategy execution and programme deployment: Support CCFS strategy deployment, global procurement programme implementation, and preferred supplier initiatives at the Schaffhausen site, ensuring local execution is aligned with regional and global procurement expectations.
· Stakeholder partnership and demand planning: Partner with leaders across E&PS, GET, Supply Chain, R&D, Finance, EHS, Quality, Operations, and Procurement supporting sourcing needs for project requirements.
· Supplier performance and innovation: Engage directly with supplier leadership to align safety, quality, delivery, reliability, innovation, sustainability, and cost objectives. Use data, performance reviews, market intelligence, and continuous improvement to strengthen supplier capability and end-to-end value.
· Transformation and continuous improvement: Identify and lead opportunities to improve procurement efficiency, effectiveness, scalability, and compliance through benchmarking, market intelligence, risk assessment, total cost analysis, process improvement, automation, and relevant AI-enabled ways of working.
· Leadership standards and compliance: Build strong, value-added relationships with internal and external stakeholders, integrate Johnson & Johnson’s Credo and leadership expectations into day-to-day work, communicate business issues and opportunities to leadership, and comply with all applicable Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality, and procurement requirements.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
· Bachelor’s degree required in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, Science, or a related field; MBA or relevant master’s degree preferred.
· Minimum five years of procurement, sourcing, supply chain, or category management experience required, preferably with exposure to capital projects, construction, engineering, facility services, or highly regulated manufacturing environments.
· Experience working with A&E, Construction Management, Automation, Commissioning & Qualification, and Capital Equipment suppliers is highly desirable.
· Significant contracting experience and subcontractor management is required.
· Working knowledge construction contracts (SIA 118) published by the Swiss Society of Engineers and Architects (SIA) is essential.
· Strong negotiation, contract management, supplier relationship management, sourcing, category management, analytical, and project management skills.
· Demonstrated ability to work effectively with technical, engineering, supply chain, finance, quality, EHS, and functional partners in complex, matrixed, multicultural environments.
· Strong business and financial acumen, including ability to influence cost, cash flow, schedule, risk, quality, compliance, and value outcomes.
· Strategic mindset, disciplined and data-driven thinking, collaboration and influencing skills, learning agility, openness to change, and comfort working in ambiguity.
· Knowledge of sustainability/ESG, responsible sourcing, supplier risk, and procurement compliance practices is a plus.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English required; German language capability is an asset for the Schaffhausen site-based environment.
· Willingness to travel as required, typically up to approximately 20%, with periods of higher intensity depending on project and supplier needs.
Site-Based Working Expectation
This role is based at the J&J site in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. The successful candidate is expected to work primarily on site with occasional home office to maintain close partnership with site leadership, engineering, operations, project teams, and key suppliers.
