The Johnson & Johnson Immunology Internship Program offers a full-time, immersive learning experience within Immunology Therapeutic Area Research and Development. Interns contribute to meaningful projects, engage with leaders and colleagues across functions, and build practical skills through structured learning, mentorship, and exposure to the drug development process. The program is designed to foster professional growth while giving interns an opportunity to support innovative immunology research and clinical development.

Designed to cultivate the next generation of talent, the program helps interns develop scientific, technical, and professional capabilities while exploring career opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry. The internship spans approximately three months, from May 17 through August 6, 2027. The position is located in Spring House, PA.

Job Description:

As an Immunology Computational Scientist Intern within Discovery or Translational Science and Medicine, you will join a multidisciplinary team advancing the discovery and development of innovative therapeutics. Working closely with a dedicated mentor, you will lead a defined computational research project that applies bioinformatics, data science, and quantitative methods to address an immunology research question. Depending on the project, you may analyze human cellular, molecular, genetic, or multi-omics data; develop or evaluate computational workflows and algorithms; identify disease-relevant pathways, therapeutic targets, mechanisms of action, or biomarkers of response and resistance; and integrate findings with experimental or clinical evidence. You will collaborate with scientists across functions, build practical experience in pharmaceutical R&D and drug development, and communicate your findings to project teams and senior leaders. At the conclusion of the internship, you will present your work through an abstract or poster at the organization-wide research symposium.

You will be responsible for:

  • Design and execute computational analyses aligned with a defined immunology research question and project objectives.
  • Analyze and visualize complex biological datasets
  • Develop, adapt, benchmark, and troubleshoot reproducible computational workflows, statistical approaches, algorithms, or models using appropriate programming tools.
  • Interpret results in the context of immunology and disease biology to generate testable hypotheses and insights related to pathways, targets, mechanisms of action, patient stratification, or biomarkers.
  • Partner with computational, discovery, translational, or clinical colleagues to inform study design, integrate complementary evidence, and advance project decisions.
  • Conduct focused literature and technology reviews to identify relevant datasets, methods, knowledge gaps, and emerging computational approaches.
  • Maintain clear, accurate, and reproducible documentation of data sources, code, methods, analytical decisions, results, and conclusions in accordance with team practices.
  • Participate actively in department, project team, and cross-functional meetings; share progress, seek feedback, and incorporate input from scientific stakeholders.
  • Prepare clear written and oral communications, including analysis summaries, presentations, and an abstract or poster for the organization-wide research symposium.
  • Engage in mentorship, professional-development activities, and opportunities to learn about functional roles across pharmaceutical research and development.
  • Support additional scientific or program initiatives as assigned.
