DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a Planning Manager, located in Ringaskiddy Cork, this great opportunity is required onsite 5 days per week.
Job Description:
The Planning Manager will lead the Cork site planning function, ensuring manufacturing plans, material availability and inventory levels are aligned to customer service, cost and compliance expectations.
The role requires a strong people leader who can drive planning execution, digital enablement, develop team capability, improve ERP/MRP-enabled processes, manage supply risks and partner across the site and global supply chain to deliver reliable operational performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Site Planning and Operational Delivery
Lead the production planning and scheduling function for the Cork site, ensuring manufacturing build plans support customer service commitments while balancing inventory and operational constraints.
Own site-level supply planning, replenishment and inventory planning across finished goods, raw materials and WIP, ensuring a controlled flow of approved materials to meet production requirements.
Proactively identify supply risks, develop contingency plans, and escalate significant issues to senior stakeholders to protect short- and medium-term service performance.
Partner with Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality, Logistics and Global Supply Chain to resolve planning constraints and support reliable execution of site manufacturing plans.
Inventory, Cost and Lead-Time Performance
Manage inventory performance across raw materials, work-in-progress and finished goods to balance customer service, supply continuity and working capital.
Lead initiatives to reduce material cost, improve lead times and identify cost reduction opportunities across distribution, supplier and manufacturing processes.
Support demand-driven and lean replenishment practices to improve planning stability, reduce manual intervention and strengthen supply chain responsiveness.
Systems, Data and Process Improvement
Act as a key site subject matter expert for ERP, MRP and related planning systems, supporting testing, system development, transaction readiness and team training.
Drive adoption of planning system enhancements, advanced planning tools and analytics to improve forecast accuracy, decision support and process efficiency.
Lead and support system and process improvement programmes that improve planning visibility, reduce manual work and strengthen execution discipline.
Work closely with business excellence and cross-functional teams to implement process improvements aligned with production output, efficiency, unit cost and quality objectives.
New Product Introduction and Transfer Support
Lead planning activities for new product launches and product transfer projects, including supply readiness, validated lead times and inventory build plans to meet launch or transfer milestones.
Provide planning input to cross-functional project teams and ensure project deliverables, timelines and scope are supported by robust supply plans.
People Leadership and Capability Development
Provide leadership, direction and performance management for the planning team, ensuring clear priorities, resource planning, capability development and resilient succession plans.
Coach and develop team members to strengthen planning capability, decision making, accountability and cross-functional collaboration.
Build a high-performing, compliant and engaged team aligned to site and global planning objectives.
Compliance, Quality and Risk Management
Ensure planning activities comply with applicable EHS, Quality, GMP, financial and company requirements.
Maintain and improve planning policies, processes and procedures to ensure regulatory requirements are met and materials are controlled in line with approved production needs.
Ensure personal and team compliance with company regulations, policies and procedures, including health, safety and environmental practices.
Key Performance Measures
The Planning Manager will be expected to influence and improve key planning and supply chain metrics, including:
Schedule attainment, including NRP-A and cMPS performance.
OTIF to internal customers and distribution centres.
Inventory performance, including days of supply and inventory value targets.
Cost improvement, cost avoidance and COGS-related initiatives.
Budget accuracy and adherence to plan.
Process improvement, planning stability, lead-time reduction and supply risk mitigation
Experience And Education:
Essential
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Logistics, Operations or a related discipline.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a supply chain, planning, purchasing, warehouse or related leadership roles with demonstrated responsibility for finished goods and direct material planning.
Experience in manufacturing planning and distribution networks, preferably within orthopaedics, medical devices or another highly regulated industry.
Strong working knowledge of ERP and MRP systems, with advanced MS Office and Excel capability.
Strong knowledge of cGMP, cGDP, quality systems and regulated manufacturing environments.
Demonstrated people leadership experience, including team development, resource planning, coaching and performance management.
Proven ability to work cross-functionally with peers, senior leaders and external partners through negotiation, influence and collaboration.
Desirable
Experience in medical device operations or cGMP environment.
Six Sigma, Lean, FPX, JJOS, JJPS, Green Belt, Black Belt, APICS or equivalent certification.
Strong SAP, SAP EWM, JDE, Oracle, WMS or equivalent ERP/WMS experience.
Project management experience, including planning, implementation and delivery of cross-functional supply chain projects.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong production planning, scheduling, MRP and inventory management capability.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make quantitative projections and recommendations.
Ability to make effective decisions in a complex, fast-moving manufacturing environment.
Strong stakeholder management, influencing, negotiation and collaboration skills across multiple decision makers and cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated ability to lead improvement initiatives through to completion.
Proactive, self-motivated and accountable, with strong follow-through on assignments, projects and business priorities.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to develop clear, structured messages and well-supported conclusions.
