Job Description:

DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a(n) Sr. Manager, R&D, located in New Brunswick, NJ, West Chester, PA, Raynam, MA, Warsaw, IN, or Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopedics business to establish a standalone orthopedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes.

The Senior Manager of Procurement Services is responsible for the leadership of Procurement activities across spend categories, driving alignment between business and category strategies. The leader will execute strategic business and industry engagement to establish a reliable, resilient and effective supply base for the company. The Senior Manager of Procurement Services will also be tasked with end-to-end spend management responsibilities, including, but not limited to, Category Management, Supplier Management, Sourcing, Contracting, and Innovation.

The Senior Manager of Procurement Services will be accountable to delivering aggressive financial targets, including cost and working capital improvement. Further, the leader will deliver against a balanced value proposition including innovation, environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG), and procurement process excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of category strategies to establish a world class organization and supply base that the New Consumer Health Company can leverage to create a competitive advantage

  • Align category strategies with the company strategy and goals

  • Deliver financial, performance, and innovation targets

  • Steward financial policy and responsible supplier and procurement standards

  • Leverage and maximize fit for purpose procurement process solutions, including the utilization of world class digital solutions, use of business process outsourcing, and deployment of internal resources

  • Engage with executive leadership in key supplier relationships

  • Cultivate a culture of inclusion, learning and engagement

  • Benchmark industry best practices and continuously advance procurement capabilities

  • Lead major strategic negotiations for owned categories on behalf of the business

  • Promote digital tools and automation opportunities.

  • Use procurement systems and analytics to generate insights and drive continuous improvement in supplier and sourcing performance.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required, an MBA or other advanced degree is strongly preferred

  • Comprehensive knowledge of R&D industry is required

  • A minimum of 8 years of working experience in procurement or a related discipline is required

  • Experience in Procurement and/or Category Management. Experience developing category strategies or multi‑year sourcing roadmaps.

  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of cost drivers, market dynamics, and risk trade‑offs.

  • Experience in sourcing strategy, supplier management, competitive bidding and complex contract negotiation

  • Proficiency in Excel, with strong advanced analytics skills to analyze insights, spend, or supplier performance evaluation.

  • Familiarity with digital and AI procurement tools

  • Strong presentation and executive communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with and influence business partners.

  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross‑functional sourcing initiatives/projects.

  • Leadership, communication, influencing, and collaboration skills are required

  • Travel up to 10% domestic & international may be required

  • Strong business acumen – the ability to understand challenges through the eyes of the business leaders

  • Influencing skills – the ability to persuade others to change behavior in pursuit of a common goal

  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills at the senior executive level, as well as with peers

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to confidently present complex information to senior executives

  • Demonstrated learning agility, and the ability to improve both yourself and the people around you

Preferred Requirements/Competencies :

  • MBA or other advanced degree is preferred

  • Experience in related industry strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated experience in standing up a team and leading teams through organizational transformation is preferred

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

$122,000.00 - $212,750.00

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).

This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.

Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

Vacation –120 hours per calendar year

Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado –48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year

Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year

Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year

Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child

Bereavement Leave – 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year

Caregiver Leave – 80 hours in a 52-week rolling period10 days

Volunteer Leave – 32 hours per calendar year

Military Spouse Time-Off – 80 hours per calendar year
