Job Description:

DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a Senior BCT Specialist located in Leeds, UK.

This role plays a critical part in enabling the effective delivery of compliance within EMEA. As a Senior Business Compliance Specialist, you will combine hands-on operational expertise with line management responsibility, ensuring that all business activities are conducted in line with Health Care Compliance (HCC) requirements. You will act as a trusted partner to the business, providing guidance, approvals, and solutions across HCP engagements, contracting, payments and compliance processes, while also leading a team and driving continuous improvement across the EMEA Business Compliance model.

Key Responsibilities:

Compliance & Governance

  • Provide expert guidance, solutions and approvals for EMEA business activities in line with HCC requirements

  • Review, validate and approve business requests (e.g. HCP interactions, sponsorships, engagements)

  • Manage first line business and HCP escalations, escalating to the EMEA Business Compliance Manager and HCCO where appropriate.

  • Ensure all activities are fully compliant, with appropriate documentation and approvals in place prior to execution

  • Take ownership for oversight and integrity of transparency reporting activities, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timely delivery

  • Maintain audit readiness by supporting data collection and implementation of in-process corrective actions

  • Deliver training and coaching to the business on compliance processes and regulatory expectations

Contracting & Payments

  • Provide oversight and approvals for HCP contracts, and payments where appropriate, ensuring alignment with business need and compliance standards

  • Draft and review contracts using approved templates and processes

  • Validate contracts completed by team members, ensuring accuracy and consistency

  • Ensure appropriate documentation (e.g. Evidence of Service) is in place to support payments

  • Oversee compliance of Educational Grants and Charitable Contributions, ensuring appropriate review, approval and documentation

  • Act as a key point of contact for contract-related queries with internal stakeholders and external partners

Process & Scope Ownership

  • Take ownership of a defined scope of activities and/or compliance processes, acting as the primary compliance partner to the business

  • Drive standardisation and continuous improvement of compliance processes across EMEA

  • Monitor activity trends, identify risks and opportunities, and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and control

  • Support integration activities and organisational changes, ensuring continuity and compliance alignment

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team, providing clear direction and technical support to enable effective delivery.

  • Build team capability and ensure consistent application of compliance standards and best practices

  • Act as a role model, demonstrating accountability, ownership and a solution-oriented mindset

  • Support onboarding and development of new team members

  • Support the Business Compliance Manager EMEA

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders including business unit Leads, HCC, Legal, Finance and external partners

  • Build trusted stakeholder relationships and provide practical solution-orientated guidance

  • Participate in business discussions to provide Business Compliance expertise and execution of business activities

  • Communicate clearly across a diverse and geographically distributed stakeholder group

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (e.g. Business, Life Sciences or related field), or equivalent professional experience

Experience and Skills – Required

  • Experience in compliance, contracting, or a regulated environment

  • Demonstrated ability to provide compliance guidance, approvals and risk-based decision-making

  • Experience managing complex stakeholder relationships across multiple functions and geographies

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and conflicts constructively

  • Proven ability to lead, coach or develop others

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills

  • Able to work independently, exercise sound judgement, and manage competing priorities.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to audit-quality standards

Experience and Skills – Preferred

  • Experience with HCP engagement processes, transparency/reporting requirements, and contracting frameworks

  • Experience supporting audits, monitoring or compliance testing activities

  • Experience driving process improvements or leading project-based work in a compliance environment

Other

  • Fluent in English

  • Additional European languages are an advantage

  • Limited travel within EMEA may be required

  • Compliance or legal certifications are beneficial but not required
