Purpose
The Sales Manager, Trauma & Power Tools, is responsible for driving sustainable business growth, achieving sales targets, and leading a high-performing sales organization within the Trauma and Power Tools business.
The role, reporting to Business Unit Director, is accountable for developing and executing strategic commercial plans, expanding customer relationships, identifying market opportunities, and ensuring strong market presence across the assigned geography.
The Sales Manager leads, coaches, and develops a team of sales representatives while collaborating cross-functionally with Marketing, Medical Education, Supply Chain, Finance, and Customer Service teams to deliver business objectives and maximize customer value.
This position is eligible for sales incentive and variable compensation programs.
Responsibilities:
Commercial Leadership & Business Growth
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve revenue, profitability, and market share objectives within the Trauma and Power Tools portfolio.
- Identify and capitalize on new business opportunities, emerging market trends, and competitive dynamics.
- Drive customer acquisition, account penetration, and business expansion through targeted commercial initiatives.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including surgeons, hospital administrators, procurement teams, and healthcare networks.
- Ensure effective implementation of pricing, contracting, and value-based selling strategies.
- Manage sales forecasting, territory planning, pipeline development, and business reviews to ensure execution excellence.
Customer Engagement & Market Development
- Build long-term partnerships with customers by understanding their clinical, operational, and economic needs.
- Act as a senior commercial representative for strategic accounts and key opinion leaders.
- Gather customer insights and market intelligence to support product positioning, portfolio strategy, and innovation initiatives.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Professional Education teams to support product launches, educational programs, and customer engagement activities.
- Maintain a deep understanding of industry trends, healthcare economics, reimbursement environments, and competitive offerings.
Team Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, motivate, coach, and develop a team of sales representatives to achieve performance objectives.
- Establish clear goals, KPIs, and development plans aligned with business priorities.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback, recognition, and coaching.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, succession planning, and talent development initiatives.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
- Assess team capabilities and implement development actions to strengthen commercial effectiveness.
Business Planning & Execution
- Develop annual business plans, territory strategies, and account growth plans.
- Monitor and analyze sales performance, market share evolution, product mix, and profitability metrics.
- Deliver accurate sales forecasts and management reports.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, healthcare regulations, and ethical business practices.
Professional Development
- Maintain current knowledge of trauma surgery, orthopedic technologies, power tools, market developments, and healthcare trends.
- Participate in scientific congresses, professional societies, industry events, and training programs.
- Serve as a role model for professional conduct and commercial excellence.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Life Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- MBA or postgraduate business qualification preferred.
- Proven success in medical device sales, preferably within Trauma, Orthopedics, Power Tools, Sports Medicine, or related surgical specialties.
- Significant experience leading and developing high-performing sales teams.
- Demonstrated track record of consistently achieving or exceeding sales targets and business objectives.
- Experience managing complex healthcare accounts and tender environments.
- Strong understanding of hospital purchasing processes, healthcare stakeholders, and commercial contracting.
- Strategic thinking and business acumen.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and people management capabilities.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- Strong analytical and financial planning skills.
- Ability to develop and execute commercial strategies in a competitive environment.
- Capacity to build credibility with clinical and executive stakeholders.

- Based in Sevilla, Malaga, Cordoba or Granada. Ability to travel in the assigned territory and national territory when needed.
"Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes.
