Job Description:

Job title: Value Stream Manager

Department: Operations

Reports to: Operations Director

Operating Company: DePuy, Cork, Ireland

Job purpose:

The purpose of this role is to plan, direct and control all activities within DePuy for one or more Value Streams and to ensure approved products are manufactured in accordance with customer requirements and cost objectives in a quality controlled, safe manner.

Interpersonal interfaces:

Plant Manager, Operations Managers, Operations Personnel, Engineering personnel, Quality personnel, other Value Stream Leaders, all support functions, other DePuy and JNJ personnel, external Bodies such as Training Bodies, Suppliers, etc.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

interpersonal & People Development

  • Lead, empower and develop people, to facilitate a continuous improvement culture, with a growth mindset

  • Continually improve communication channels such as, Daily Production meetings, Value stream Planning meetings & Monthly Value Stream communications, etc.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership and a clear identifiable work ethos within the Value stream.

  • Identify Training Needs of Staff and Opportunities /assignments for Development to improve their potential.

  • Act as mentor with formal and informal interactions.

  • Ensure adequate tools are in place to effectively lead personnel.

  • Actively participate and assist in selection and recruitment of new employees.

  • Improve and maintain a team-based approach within the Value stream team.

  • Complete constructive performance appraisals.

  • Ensure absence, lates and ER issues are handled by staff in a fair and reasonable manner in line with company policies, Credo values and Standards of leadership.

  • Develop team & individual goals and objectives to track performance, provide timely and transparent feedback.

  • Improve and maintain the Credo based culture within the Value Stream.

  • Keep management Lead Team advised of ER issues and concerns in a timely manner.

  • Utilize opportunities to reward and recognise success of teams and individuals

CUSTOMER FOCUS

  • Improve and maintain customer focus within Value Stream.

  • Prioritise production in line with customer service requirements.

  • Drive continuous improvement

  • Work with planning function to eliminate / minimise backorder and safety stock concerns.

  • Act as the voice of the customer.

HSE

  • Ensure HSE policies, procedures and programs are implemented throughout the Value Stream and facility.

  • Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are thoroughly investigated and resultant actions complete in a timely manner.

  • Assume role of Emergency Response Co-Ordinator as required.

  • Ensure staff is trained in all relevant HSEE procedures and policies.

  • Foster HSE within the Value Stream.

  • Ensure manufacturing operations within the Value Stream conform to world-wide corporate, statutory, and regulatory requirements for GMP, HSE and Quality.

  • The Value stream Leader is responsible for the implementation and control of the Environmental, Health and Safety procedures within their individual manufacturing operations areas.

  • All employees are responsible for minimizing both the Environmental and Health & Safety effects of the work that they perform.

COST

  • Hold people accountable for Value Stream results.

  • Implement company business plan objectives within Value Stream.

  • Strive to consistently exceed Value Stream results.

  • Reduce cost of manufacture on a year-on-year basis.

  • Actively encourage, promote and facilitate implementation of innovative solutions to ensure quality while delivering lower costs and shorter lead times.

  • Recommend capital investment in production equipment as appropriate.

  • Efficiently handle variations in manufacturing demands.

  • Develop and maintain an environment of continuous improvement.

QUALITY

  • Ensure responsibilities under the Quality System as defined in the Quality Manual are met.

  • Ensure all manufacturing operations within the Value Stream conform to worldwide corporate, statutory and regulatory requirements for GMP, HSEE and Quality.

  • Promote a quality-focused culture within the Value Stream team and ensure cGMP’s are adhered to.

  • Assume a lead role in conjunction with QA to eliminate repeat close calls and potential recalls.

  • Establish world-class housekeeping standards within the value stream.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL: Third level Qualification.

Proven track record in operations leadership or leadership in operations support functions.

DESIRABLE: Degree / Masters in Business Administration or equivalent

Strong history of achieving high performance within the Healthcare / Medical Devices Sector.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is:

€70,100.00 - €121,210.00

In addition to base pay, we offer the following benefits*: an annual bonus with set target (% of pay) depending on pay grade / location, where the actual amount is based on the employees’ and companies’ performance of the previous calendar year, or sales commissions.
