Job Description:

Johnson & Johnson is hiring for a IT Director, Commercial Systems - Shockwave Medical to join our team located in Santa Clara, CA.

Fueled by innovation at the intersection of biology and technology, we’re developing the next generation of smarter, less invasive, more personalized treatments. Ready to join a team that’s pioneering the development and commercialization of Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL) to treat complex calcified cardiovascular disease. Our Shockwave Medical portfolio aims to establish a new standard of care for medical device treatment of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease through its differentiated and proprietary local delivery of sonic pressure waves for the treatment of calcified plaque.

Position Overview

The IT Director, Commercial Systems leads the strategy, architecture, product management, engineering, and operations of the commercial platforms that support Shockwave Medical's Go-to-Market teams. This role is the primary technology partner for Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success, ensuring commercial systems are scalable, AI-enabled, and compliant with J&J MedTech and regulatory standards.

This leader owns the Salesforce ecosystem and related applications, building a connected platform that drives growth, improves customer engagement, and boost field productivity. The ideal candidate brings strong judgement, transformative vision, and a hands-on style suited to fast-moving, regulated MedTech environment.

Key Responsibilities

🔹 Strategic Leadership & Vision

  • Define and execute a multi-year commercial technology roadmap aligned with growth goals and enterprise standards.
  • Set an AI-first vision embedding AI/ML and GenAI capabilities end-to-end across all commercial processes — from lead generation and territory management to customer engagement and post-sale support.
  • Promote a product mindset that focuses on outcomes and measurable business value.
  • Translates business priorities into scalable, innovative technology solutions.

🔹 Platform Ownership & Engineering

  • Own product management, architecture, engineering, and operations across commercial platforms, including but not limited to:
  • Salesforce CRM (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, Marketing Cloud)
  • Salesforce ecosystem applications (including CPQ, CLM, Incentive Compensation etc)
  • Marketing automation and digital engagement platforms
  • Customer success and contact center technologies (e.g., Amazon Connect, Genesys, and 8x8)
  • Ensure smooth integration with ERP, Data & Analytics, and PLM/Quality systems.
  • Improve performance, reliability, scalability, and security across all commercial systems.

🔹 AI Transformation & Innovation

  • Lead the design and deployment of AI-enabled processes across the commercial value chain — including intelligent forecasting, next-best-action recommendations, automated lead scoring, AI-powered customer insights, and predictive analytics.
  • Use Salesforce Agentforce, and emerging AI/GenAI capabilities to improve commercial effectiveness and operational efficiency.
  • Create an innovation framework for rapid testing and proof-of-concepts and fail-fast-learn-fast approaches while maintaining regulatory compliance.

🔹 Data Strategy & Governance

  • Partner with Data Platform & BI teams to build a trusted commercial data foundation for 360-degree customer views, real-time analytics, and self-service insights.
  • Establish and enforce strong standards for data governance, data quality, and master data across commercial systems.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable data privacy regulations.

🔹 People Leadership & Culture

  • Build and lead a high-performing team of product managers, architects, engineers, analysts, and administrators.
  • Lead with a people-first style that removes barriers, empowers teams, and develops talent.
  • Build a fast-moving, customer-focused culture while maintaining the discipline required in a regulated MedTech environment.
  • Lead hybrid teams and vendor partners with clear accountability and strong delivery discipline.

🔹 Compliance & Regulatory

  • Ensure all commercial platforms meet J&J MedTech standards, FDA regulations, SOX controls, and other applicable regulations.
  • Partner with Cybersecurity and Compliance teams to maintain a strong security posture across all commercial systems.

🔹 Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Build strong partnerships with J&J MedTech Technology peers to align roadmaps and use shared capabilities. Manage strategic vendors, including Salesforce and implementation partners, ISVs), contract negotiations, service levels, and roadmap alignment.
  • Manage the commercial systems budget with strong financial discipline and clear ROI tracking.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in IT/technology leadership roles, with deep focus on commercial/Go-to-Market systems.
  • 10+ years leading Salesforce and related platforms, including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, CPQ, Experience Cloud).
  • 7+ years of people leadership experience, including leading managers and building teams.
  • Proven experience in a regulated industry such as MedTech, Pharma, Life Sciences, or Healthcare is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record of large-scale platform transformations and AI/digital modernization initiatives.
  • Experience working in a post-M&A integration environment is a strong plus.
  • Deep expertise in Salesforce platform architecture, integration patterns (Boomi, APIs, event-driven), and DevOps/CI-CD for Salesforce, and engineering best practices.
  • Strong understanding of Lead-to-Cash, Territory Management, Incentive Compensation, Field Service, Marketing Operations, and Customer Success.
  • Working knowledge of AI/ML, GenAI, and intelligent automation in commercial workflows.
  • Strong financial acumen, includingexperience managing multi-million-dollar technology budgets and building clear business cases.
  • Excellent executive communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technology strategies to C-suite leaders.
  • Proficiency in Agile/SAFe methodologies and product management frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to set a clear direction, build trust with business leaders, lead through change, and deliver measurable results.
  • Strong people leadership, sound judgment in ambiguity, an innovation mindset, and appreciation for the demands of a regulated MedTech environment.

Additional Information

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).

This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.

Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

  • Vacation –120 hours per calendar year

  • Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year

  • Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year

  • Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year

  • Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child

  • Bereavement Leave – 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year

  • Caregiver Leave – 80 hours in a 52-week rolling period10 days

  • Volunteer Leave – 32 hours per calendar year

  • Military Spouse Time-Off – 80 hours per calendar year

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

$172,000.00 - $297,850.00
