We are looking for the best talent to join us as a Material Master Data Analyst at our DePuy Synthes site in Zuchwil, Switzerland.
Purpose & What Success in the role Looks Like
In this role, you support the end‑to‑end material master data lifecycle for assigned business units, plants, and/or regions. You execute material master data requests across ERP/MDM platforms and ensure high data quality to enable planning, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, finance, and commercial execution.
You work hands‑on with material master data changes, making sure updates are accurate, complete, and delivered on time, while consistently following defined standards, business rules, and controls. You partner closely with process owners, IT, and cross‑functional stakeholders to manage request intake, throughput, documentation, and communication, and you proactively identify issues and improvement opportunities.
You will be successful in this role when material master data quality remains consistently high, defects and rework are reduced, and SLAs are reliably met with transparent backlog management. You maintain audit‑ready documentation and effective controls with minimal audit findings, while building trust with stakeholders through clear intake processes, timely delivery, and fewer escalations. Through standardization, automation, and training, you contribute to measurable process improvements that reduce cycle times and strengthen compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute material master data creation, extension, updates, and discontinuation across ERP/MDM systems, accurately processing complex and critical changes with appropriate review and approvals
• Apply global and local material standards (naming conventions, attribute definitions, units of measure, packaging, planning/MRP parameters, procurement types, compliance and regulatory fields) and flag gaps or exceptions for review
• Perform data quality checks (validation rules, mandatory attributes, duplicate prevention) and participate in periodic audits; document defects, support root‑cause analysis, and implement corrective actions as assigned
• Support master data workflows and SLAs, including intake, approvals, testing and validation, release, and audit documentation; provide status updates and escalate risks or blockers as needed
• Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders (Procurement, Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Finance, Commercial, IT) to clarify request requirements and ensure correct data setup
• Support ERP/MDM initiatives (rollouts, migrations, acquisitions/divestitures) through data cleansing, load validation, cutover and hypercare support, and defect triage
• Maintain SOPs and work instructions as assigned; participate in training and knowledge transfer; suggest automation and continuous improvement opportunities

Qualifications / Requirements:

This is a good role for someone who can demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and are comfortable leading through ambiguity, using data to drive sound decisions. You bring a solid governance and controls mindset, with the ability to design, apply, and enforce standards and business rules. Your analytical approach enables you to identify root causes and translate recurring issues into effective preventive actions. You communicate confidently and professionally with a wide range of stakeholders, setting clear expectations, managing escalations, and providing transparent status updates. At the same time, you are able to balance hands‑on execution with coaching and continuous process improvement, even when working under tight deadlines and during critical cutover phases.

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Analytics, or equivalent experience
• 2–5 years of experience in material master data, supply chain data operations, or ERP/MDM master data roles
• Strong working knowledge of material master domains and downstream impacts (MRP, procurement, inventory valuation, manufacturing execution, batch/lot, serialization where applicable)
• Strong attention to detail, ability to follow defined standards and controls, and disciplined documentation practices
• Ability to communicate effectively with cross‑functional stakeholders

Preferred

• Experience supporting a master data function, including ticket intake, SLAs, stakeholder communication, and escalations
• Strong ERP/MDM experience (e.g., SAP MM/MDG, S/4HANA, Oracle), including workflows, roles and authorizations, and change control
• Familiarity with data governance frameworks and tools (e.g., data catalogs, data quality monitoring, workflow tools, ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or Jira)
• Experience supporting major programs (ERP go‑lives, cutovers, migrations, acquisitions), including data conversion and reconciliation
• Experience working in controlled environments (SOX, GMP, FDA/EMA/ISO as applicable) with a strong understanding of audit and traceability requirements
• Analytics and automation skills (advanced Excel, Power BI, SQL, Power Query, or scripting) to monitor data quality and streamline work

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes.

At Johnson & Johnson, we want every candidate to feel supported throughout the hiring process. Our goal is to make the experience clear, fair, and respectful of your time.
