Job Description:

Johnson and Johnson is recruiting for a Materials Science Scientist .


Position Summary:

The Materials Science Scientist is responsible for lifecycle management (LCM d in commercial manufacturing. The role ensures technical, quality, and business requirements are met to enable robust, compliant supply and product performance. The position acts as a key Materials Science point of contact for product lifecycle activities, supporting material readiness, change management, and external manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive end-to-end lifecycle management of raw materials across commercial products
  • Provide technical leadership in supplier/material selection, qualification and issue resolution, in partnership with MSAT, Quality, Regulatory, Operations, Planning, Procurement and other relevant partners.
  • Assess impact of supplier and site-driven raw material changes
  • Provide materials science input into change controls, comparability, and regulatory impact assessments
  • Support product lifecycle activities including non-conformances, investigations and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Serve as Materials Science point of contact for internal/external manufacturing sites and CMOs
  • Perform and/or review material risk assessments and ensure appropriate control strategies are defined
  • Establish and maintain raw material control strategies, including specifications and other documents
  • Provide inspection-ready documentation and ensure compliance with GMP and regulatory requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • MSc or PhD or equivalent in Material Science, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, or related field
  • Experience in pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical manufacturing environment is required
  • Understanding of raw materials impact on process and product quality is required
  • Experience with investigations, root cause analysis, risk assessments and statistical process controls is required
  • Experience working with external manufacturing sites or CMOs is preferred
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills is required
  • Working knowledge of GMP and applicable regulatory frameworks is required

The anticipated base pay range for this position is:

€64,000.00 - €103,040.00

In addition to base pay, we offer the following benefits*: an annual bonus with set target (% of pay) depending on pay grade / location, where the actual amount is based on the employees’ and companies’ performance of the previous calendar year, or sales commissions.
