We are searching for the best talent for a Senior Manager, Lab Automation and Screening Operations to be located in Beerse, Belgium.
Purpose:
We are seeking a Senior Manager to lead laboratory automation, data management workflows, and screening operations at our Beerse site. This role is accountable for delivering reliable, high‑quality automated screening and compound profiling capabilities while advancing next‑generation infrastructure, data integration, and operational excellence to support a diverse and evolving Discovery portfolio.
You will be responsible for:
- Lead daily laboratory automation and automated assay execution supporting Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology Screening and Compound Profiling activities
- Accountable for Beerse data management operations, including priority setting and delivery of high‑quality, timely data workflows for screening programs
- Drive innovation and capability advancement through deployment of next‑generation automation infrastructure, software solutions, and process improvements
- Manage operational and contractor budgets, ensuring efficient resource utilization and cost discipline
- Initiate and lead external partnerships with key suppliers and contract research organizations to expand capabilities and accelerate impact
- Develop organizational culture, technical capabilities, and talent, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Lead automation laboratory design and project execution, including system design, prototyping, factory and site acceptance testing, method implementation, and end‑user training
- Oversee life‑cycle management of robotic systems, including troubleshooting, maintenance, performance optimization, and continuous improvement
- Partner across automation, screening, informatics, and compound logistics teams to optimize end‑to‑end scientific and data workflows

Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Biological Sciences, Engineering, or a related field (required)
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in laboratory automation, data management, compound screening/profiling, or a related discovery operations environment
- Proven experience leading multi‑disciplinary teams supporting automation platforms, data workflows, and day‑to‑day screening operations
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong internal and external partnerships to meet evolving scientific and organizational needs
- Expertise in monitoring equipment performance, capacity utilization, and quality metrics to drive operational excellence
- Strong awareness of scientific and technological advancements, including emerging platforms, competitive landscape, and discovery portfolio needs
- Commutability to Beerse, essential.
Preferred Experience & Skills
- Hands‑on experience with robotic liquid handling platforms (e.g., Tecan, Hamilton, Beckman, Agilent)
- Experience with integrated automation and scheduling software (e.g., HighRes Biosolutions Cellario, Thermo Scientific Momentum)
- Demonstrated success integrating automation platforms, scheduling systems, LIMS, and downstream analytics environments
- Deep expertise in designing, deploying, and sustaining high‑availability, data‑driven, high‑throughput automation systems
