We are searching for the best talent for the Senior Process Engineer to be based in Leiden.

You will help ensure reliable commercial manufacturing of biologic medicines by implementing new processes, optimizing downstream operations, and supporting cross‑functional teams to keep quality, safety, and compliance at the highest level.

As a Senior Process Engineer, you will:

  • Lead the introduction and implementation of new production processes and technologies to support commercial manufacturing and product supply.
  • Optimize downstream processing (DSP) operations to improve yield, reliability, and minimize downtime.
  • Own process control and validation activities, ensuring processes run within validated and regulatory limits and that process records remain compliant.
  • Drive data collection, analysis, and reporting to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for continuous process improvement and CPV actions.
  • Initiate, design, and manage Product Impact Assessments and Change Controls from initiation to completion, coordinating with Operations, Quality, Engineering, MSAT, and Digital.
  • Perform Gemba walks and act as a subject-matter expert for inspections and audits, leading sustainable improvements in safety, quality, cost, and schedule.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Master’s or PhD in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 6–8 years’ relevant experience in GMP pharmaceutical or biotechnology manufacturing, with strong operational DSP experience.
  • Proven experience supporting commercial manufacturing, investigations, change controls, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Comfortable working in multidisciplinary operational environments and collaborating across functions.
  • Fluent in English (required); proficiency in Dutch is preferable.
  • Strong analytical thinker who handles complexity, uses data to find root causes, stays calm under pressure, and adapts to changing priorities.

Here's what you can expect:

  • Application review: We'll carefully review your CV to see how your skills and experience align with the role.
  • Getting to know you: If there's a good match, you'll be invited to a short call with one of our recruitment team to understand more about you and answer any questions that you might have.
  • Staying informed: We know waiting can be hard and processes can evolve; our recruitment team will keep you updated and make sure you know what to expect at each step.
  • Final steps: For successful candidates, you will need to complete country-specific checks before starting your new role. We will help guide you through these.

Finally, at the end of the process, we'll invite you to share feedback in a short survey — your input helps us continue improving the experience for future candidates.
