DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a Marketing Lead Spine, located in Hamburg, Germany.
We’re looking for a collaborative leader with strong character—someone who takes ownership, brings fresh ideas, and turns strategy into results.
As Marketing Lead for DePuy Synthes Spine in Germany, you will shape the local growth agenda and lead end-to-end go-to-market execution for the portfolio. You will directly manage and develop a small team (Product Manager and Asset Manager), setting clear priorities, building capability, and creating a high-performance culture. Working hand-in-hand with regional (EMEA) and global marketing, you’ll translate strategic priorities into impactful, compliant initiatives that strengthen customer adoption and improve patient outcomes. With strong commercial and financial acumen, you will partner with Sales, Finance, Planning, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver ambitious revenue, margin, and investment productivity targets—powered by robust market insights and disciplined performance tracking.
Key Responsibilities
Set the local Spine marketing strategy and annual operating plan, aligned with EMEA/global priorities and compliant with healthcare regulations
Lead end-to-end go-to-market for launches: positioning, value messaging, pricing input, and launch readiness (“Launch Excellence”)
Drive portfolio strategy and life cycle management (segmentation, positioning/value ladder, local optimization, and master data quality)
Turn market, customer, and competitor insights into clear growth opportunities—including new solutions and business models
Partner with German Sales to build adoption-driving programs, enablement, and territory execution plans
Align cross-functional partners (Finance, Planning, Supply Chain, Ortho-Kit/consignments, Added Value Solutions) to deliver shared outcomes
Lead and develop the local marketing team (Product Manager and Asset Manager): set objectives, prioritize work, coach performance, and build capability
Own marketing and CAPEX budgets, with disciplined governance, ROI tracking, and investment productivity management
Own the marketing asset strategy and governance (via the Asset Manager): content planning, approvals, omnichannel standards, and high-impact tools
Partner with Planning and Supply Chain on demand forecasting and inventory health to support service levels and launch readiness
Deliver commercial performance: revenue, margin, profitability, and price/volume/mix—recommending corrective actions when needed
Define and track dashboards and KPIs (e.g., revenue, price, adoption, launch performance) to drive continuous improvement
Lead integrated business planning for the portfolio: prioritization, key initiatives, and cross-functional governance
Shape and execute the local training and enablement strategy (Professional and Commercial Education) for internal teams and external stakeholders
Champion customer experience and adoption by translating clinical and economic value into practical programs, tools, and pathways
Own internal and external communications for the portfolio, ensuring consistent messaging and stakeholder alignment
Plan and lead the local congress and event strategy, coordinating external agencies and ensuring measurable impact
Ensure compliance and governance across all activities (e.g., HCC, regulatory, complaints, CE/MDR), proactively managing risk and documentation
What You Bring
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, marketing, life sciences, or a comparable field (or equivalent professional experience)
Several years of experience in marketing and/or sales for complex, value-based medical devices; orthopaedics/traumatology/spine experience necessary
Strong commercial acumen, including pricing, profitability, and budget/ROI management
Proven track record leading complex, cross-functional initiatives and influencing stakeholders in a matrix organization
Proven people leadership experience, including coaching, performance management, and developing high-performing teams
Strategic, analytical, and execution-oriented working style with a strong bias for action
Collaborative leader with strong communication skills and the ability to inspire and align diverse teams
Strong customer focus and clear, persuasive communication skills
Confident presentation skills; strong digital and MS Office skills (e.g., CRM/Showpad or similar tools are a plus)
Fluent in German and English (business level)
