Position Summary
This role is responsible for leading patient advocacy strategy and engagement in South Korea, bringing the patient voice into business decisions, stakeholder engagement, and initiatives that improve patient experience and access. As a key partner within the Government Affairs function, the individual works across internal and external stakeholders to shape patient-centered, compliant, and insight-driven strategies aligned with business priorities and company values.
The role will:
- Lead patient advocacy strategy and execution across Korea.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with patient advocacy organizations, patient communities, and key external stakeholders.
- Champion the patient voice and identify opportunities to strengthen patient-centered engagement across the organization.
- Partner internally and externally to shape initiatives that improve patient experience and access.
RESPONSIBILITIES/PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
- Based in South Korea, this role leads patient advocacy strategy and execution for Korea within the Government Affairs function.
- Acts as a strategic partner to business and functional leaders to advance patient-centered, compliant engagement across Korea.
- Works closely with Market Access, Government Affairs, Communications & Public Affairs, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
- Reports to the Director, Government Affairs & Policy, Patient Advocacy.
- Provides expertise in patient advocacy, patient experience, healthcare policy, and regulatory requirements.
- Develops and executes patient advocacy initiatives and engagement programs aligned with business priorities, policy considerations, and company values.
- Identifies opportunities to strengthen the patient experience through effective processes, patient engagement practices, and continuous improvement.
- Turns patient insights and perspectives into actionable recommendations that inform leadership decisions, launches, and stakeholder engagement.
- Establishes performance indicators to assess patient programs, engagement effectiveness, and patient experience outcomes.
- Supports capability building while modeling Johnson & Johnson’s Credo and Leadership Imperatives.
Requirements
- 8–12 years of relevant experience in patient advocacy, patient engagement, communications, public affairs, market access, or related fields.
- Strong understanding of the healthcare environment in South Korea, including patient advocacy, policy, and regulatory considerations.
- Demonstrated experience building relationships with patient advocacy organizations, external stakeholders, and cross-functional internal teams
- Strong strategic thinking and execution skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities across stakeholders, timelines, and workstreams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Korean and English.
- Experience working effectively across cultures and within a complex matrix organization.
- Ability to balance short-term execution with long-term strategic priorities.
- Budget management and agency management experience preferred.
