Job Description:

ROLE PURPOSE

The Patient Advocacy Lead will shape and drive Johnson & Johnson Hong Kong & Macau’s patient advocacy strategy. This role will help ensure patient perspectives are reflected in disease area strategy, stakeholder engagement, and initiatives that improve patient experience and access.

Reporting to the Director, Medical Affairs and Operation Excellence, Hong Kong & Macau, this person will work closely with Medical Affairs, Market Access, Government Affairs, Commercial, and Communications & Public Affairs. The role is about building trusted partnerships with patient organizations and helping the company make more patient-centered decisions in Hong Kong & Macau, while providing communication support, where needed, for relevant coordination with the appropriate teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Shape patient advocacy strategy and patient-centered decisions

  • Lead and execute Hong Kong & Macau’s patient advocacy strategy in priority disease areas.

  • Bring patient insights into cross-functional planning and help ensure the patient voice is reflected in local decisions and strategies.

  • Partner with Market Access, Government Affairs, Communications & Public Affairs, and other teams to support patient-centered engagement, education, and policy shaping.

  • Identify appropriate and compliant ways to involve patient groups in local access and policy discussions.

2. Build trusted partnerships and strengthen patient connection

  • Build strong, trusted relationships with patient organizations, advocacy groups, and community leaders relevant to the portfolio.

  • Help create opportunities for the Hong Kong & Macau organization to hear directly from patients and better understand their experiences.

  • Support initiatives that strengthen Johnson & Johnson’s reputation as a trusted partner to the patient community in Hong Kong & Macau.

3. Build the foundation for sustainable and compliant engagement

  • Build clear local processes, guidelines, and ways of working to support ethical, transparent, and effective collaboration with patient organizations.

  • Work closely with Finance, Legal, and Compliance to ensure all engagement meets company standards and local requirements.

  • Share insights, learn from best practices across markets, and help build patient advocacy capability within Johnson & Johnson.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.

  • 8–12 years of experience in patient engagement, advocacy, communications, public affairs, market access, or related fields.

  • Strong understanding of Hong Kong & Macau’s healthcare environment, including patient advocacy, policy, and regulatory considerations.

  • Demonstrated experience building relationships with patient advocacy organizations, external stakeholders, and cross-functional internal teams.

  • Strong strategic thinking, execution, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and influence without direct authority.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Mandarin and English.

  • Experience working effectively across cultures and in a matrix organization.

  • A proactive, practical approach and the ability to balance short-term execution with long-term priorities.

  • Budget management and agency management experience preferred.
