What are J&J's Human Resources Leadership Development Programs?

We offer HR leadership development programs globally along two distinct tracks—foundational and experienced—based on level of experience. We also offer a 12-week HR summer internship that often can serve as a pipeline to both tracks for top performers upon graduation.

The foundational track

This two-year program for undergrad and graduate students helps future HR leaders shape their careers. It includes:

  • Individualized growth plan
  • Hands-on mentorship
  • Wide-ranging opportunities for exposure, engagement and development

Begin to build an international network of HR and business contacts, be positioned to grow—and emerge fully prepared to enter the ranks of global HR leadership at J&J.

The experienced track

This two-year program helps graduate and postdoc students and professionals cultivate strategic mindsets as they learn how to effectively engage, lead and drive results across a global enterprise. You’ll get to:

  • Rotate through three HR positions—gaining exposure to multiple business segments and locations
  • Work on mission-critical projects
  • Consistently take on the toughest real-world business challenges

It’s comprehensive training for enterprise-level HR business leadership.

Where are the HR leadership development programs offered?

We offer these programs globally and positions may be available at multiple J&J operating companies. Please see country-specific job descriptions for locations and eligibility. 

The foundational track requirements: 

  • In the process of completing a bachelor’s or graduate degree with a focus in business, HR management, industrial or organizational psychology, or other HR-related disciplines
  • A minimum of three months of full-time (working 40 hours or more on a continuous basis) professional work experience
  • Previous HR experience is preferred 
  • Geographic mobility for rotations and final placement of the full-time program
  • Fluency in English, as well as fluency in the language of the country where the assignment is located 
  • Legal authorization to work in the country where the role is located 

The experienced track requirements: 

  • In the process of completing a MBA, master’s degree or a Ph.D. with a focus in HR management, industrial or organizational psychology, or any similar business-related discipline
  • At least five years of prior full-time (working 40 hours or more on a continuous basis) professional work experience Previous HR experience is preferred
  • Geographic mobility for rotations and final placement in the full-time program
  • Fluency in English, as well as fluency in the language of the country where the assignment is located 
  • Legal authorization to work in the country where the role is located

  • Those who complete the internship will be considered for a full-time position as part of the HR Leadership Development Program after degree completion
