We are searching for the best talent for Business Excellence Engineer I.

Purpose:

The Business Excellence Engineer will provide support under supervision in the complex-by-nature assignments, support manufacturing process improvements incorporating time-saving suggestions, implementing productivity improvements, support balancing line, processes standardization, lean manufacturing and sustaining efficiencies through the lean six sigma tools.

In accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:

  • Support or/and lead engineering problem solving and process improvement projects using best practices, ensuring accountability and completion.
  • Works with operations teams to identify potential projects, assess feasibility, and implement solutions.
  • Collaborate with business teams to review processes and identify/implement opportunities for improvements applying Lean Six Sigma concepts & tools.
  • Identify opportunities for cost, time and flow reduction.
  • Collect data and analyze process performance indicators to ensure business efficiency and quality requirements.
  • Communicate the status and issues of the projects to the organization in a timely, clear, and appropriate manner.
  • Identify potential operational risks and support the areas in the development of strategies to mitigate them.
  • Trains groups of associates in department initiative and provide support in the use of lean manufacturing tools.
  • Monitors the correct application of the standards operation procedures through periodical audits about the use of lean manufacturing tools (Lean audit & 5s audit).
  • Develops graphs, charts, schemes, drawings and presentations about line metrics.
  • Generates purchase orders and follows the applicable procedures.
  • Under supervision, works on assignments that are complex in nature, requiring judgment, initiative, and problem solving skills, such as operations analysis, line balancing support, process standardization, lean manufacturing audits, 5's among others.
  • Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level.
  • Responsible for following all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices as applicable.
  • For those who supervise or manage a staff, responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable
  • Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Performs other duties assigned as needed

Qualifications / Requirements:

Experience and education*

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Industrial Engineering preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • 0-2 years of experience in the medical device industry or supporting and implementing Operational Excellence initiatives.
  • Proficiency English.
  • Knowledge in holistic operational excellence structures and the associated tools/techniques.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or six sigma tools expected.
  • Knowledge using different types of software to create PowerPoint/PDF presentations

Required knowledge, skills, abilities, certifications/licenses and affiliations

  • Ability to use computer programs (Microsoft Office, Autocad, igrafx, Minitab, etc.).
  • Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or six sigma tools expected.
  • Ability to convey and communicate complex concepts simply and clearly.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
