About our manufacturing facility in Costa Rica
More than 3,000 new jobs are projected in the coming years at our operations under construction in Grecia, Alajuela.
Costa Rica is the second largest exporter of medical devices in Latin America and has a proven track record of attracting major medical technology projects. Thanks to the development of the life sciences sector, local talent has been able to specialize in the medical device industry, making the country a very strategic location for us.
This investment also builds on more than 40 years of Johnson & Johnson's business operations in Costa Rica and reinforces our commitment to sustainability, given that 99% of the country's electricity comes from renewable sources.
From Costa Rica to the world
The new plant will have the capacity to manufacture products for all Johnson & Johnson MedTech business units, with a focus on electrophysiology solutions and orthopaedic products, and will include employee service areas. Our new manufacturing facilities will increase capacity, improve supply chain efficiency and resilience, and provide the flexibility to assess and meet future product demand from all Johnson & Johnson MedTech business divisions.
