Position Summary:
Reporting to and supporting the GTC Risk & Advisory Director, the Senior Manager is a core member of the GTC Risk & Advisory team and is expected to contribute broadly across risk and advisory priorities as business needs evolve. With a primary focus on Acquisition & Divestiture (A&D), external and internal audit management, and regulatory change management, this role ensures that trade compliance requirements are embedded into transaction lifecycles, audit readiness and response processes are standardized and effective, and regulatory changes are translated into practical, timely control enhancements across the Innovative Medicines and MedTech segments.
The Senior Manager will serve as a key cross-functional partner to Global Transportation & Trade Operations, Health Care Compliance, Global Legal Organization, and regional trade compliance teams. This position plays an important role in enabling business growth and transformation while maintaining strong trade compliance and effective governance.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Manager will, among other responsibilities:
Acquisition & Divestiture (A&D) Trade Compliance Leadership
- Lead trade compliance engagement for A&D transactions, including due diligence, integration/separation activities, and post-close stabilization.
- Assess target / state trade compliance capabilities, identify transaction-related risks, and define mitigation plans aligned with business objectives and risk appetite.
- Coordinate cross-functional workstreams (e.g., customs valuation, classification, origin, broker strategy, import/export licensing, and trade data) to ensure requirements are embedded into transaction timelines.
- Develop and maintain repeatable playbooks, templates, and standard operating routines to scale trade compliance support across multiple concurrent transactions.
External & Internal Audit Management
- Serve as the primary GTC point of coordination for internal and external audits, including planning, data requests, evidence management, response development, and closure activities.
- Establish and maintain audit readiness routines, including control documentation, testing support, and centralized evidence repositories aligned to global SOPs and standards.
- Drive timely and consistent responses to audit observations and validation of remediation evidence in partnership with business owners.
- Provide regular status reporting to leadership on audit progress, themes, and open actions; identify opportunities to strengthen controls and reduce repeat findings.
Regulatory Change Management
- Lead the intake, assessment, and implementation coordination for regulatory changes impacting global trade controls, ensuring timely translation into policies, procedures, and operational controls.
- Partner with Import/Export Controls leaders, Legal, Government Affairs, and regional teams to evaluate applicability and business impact of new or changing regulations, sanctions, and government guidance.
- Coordinate updates to global SOPs, standards, training materials, and communications to ensure consistent adoption across regions and business units.
- Maintain a regulatory change tracker and governance cadence to monitor progress, manage dependencies, and escalate decisions as needed.
Enterprise & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Build strong relationships with cross-functional stakeholders to align priorities, manage trade compliance deliverables, and enable timely decision-making during audits, transactions, and regulatory changes.
- Prepare executive-ready materials for leadership forums, including risk summaries, decision points, and progress updates.
- Promote a strong culture of compliance, controls, accountability, and resiliency through clear expectations, training support, and consistent governance.
- Provide surge support and backup coverage across other GTC Risk & Advisory initiatives (e.g., risk assessments, issue management, audit support, regulatory change, and ad hoc advisory needs) as directed by the GTC Risk & Advisory Director.
Qualifications
Education:
- A Bachelor’s Degree is required.
- A Master’s or other advanced degree is preferred.
- Relevant customs or trade compliance certification (e.g., Licensed Customs Broker) is preferred, but not required.
Required Experience & Skills:
- A minimum of 8–10 years of relevant business experience, preferably in Global Trade Compliance, Supply Chain Compliance, Audit/Controls, Corporate Development support, or related fields.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply import/export regulations in complex business environments, including during business transformations.
- Experience leading cross-functional workstreams for complex initiatives, including A&D transactions, integration/separation activities, or major operating model changes.
- Strong audit management skills, including evidence management, response coordination, remediation planning, and sustained audit readiness routines.
- Demonstrated ability to translate regulatory changes into clear requirements and implementable controls across diverse stakeholders and regions.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and align senior stakeholders and convey complex compliance topics succinctly.
Preferred:
- Experience developing playbooks, standard work, and governance models for repeatable program delivery.
- Prior experience working in Life Sciences/Health Care or other highly regulated industries.
- Experience with trade compliance systems, broker management tools, or audit/risk platforms.
Other Requirements
- Up to 10% domestic and international travel may be required.
- The position requires 3 days per week onsite in accordance with J&J's on-site collaboration model.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :
$122,000.00 - $212,750.00Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:
Vacation –120 hours per calendar year
