Job Description:

Title: Biomarker Operations Intern

Organization: Oncology Translational Research and Diagnostics team (Shanghai), Pharmaceutical R&D, Johnson & Johnson

Position Description:

The Biomarker Operations Intern will support clinical biomarker and diagnostic strategy executions. This role offers hands-on exposure of clinical sample management, testing and data delivery activities for clinical programs in oncology. The intern will work closely with BDO Lead mentor and internal teams and external partners, gaining practical experience in clinical biomarker operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in maintaining study timelines and tracking tools.
  • Support vendor management activities, including documentation preparation, tracking contract status, and follow-up communication.
  • Support central lab setup activities and ongoing coordination with internal stakeholders
  • Assist in HGR application preparation under supervision; Help on monitoring sample and data collection status to ensure compliance with HGR and study requirements
  • Assist in tracking sample testing progress and ensuring timely data delivery from vendors
  • Assist in preparation of clinical study documents (e.g., lab manuals, ICF sections, sample management plans, training materials)
  • Support preparation of presentations and summary reports for sample tracking and study metrics
  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings and support operational updates
  • Assist in identifying and escalating operational issues related to biomarker testing and sample management

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Life Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, or related fields
  • Strong interest in clinical research, oncology, biomarkers, or diagnostics
  • Previous internship or research experience in pharmaceutical/biotech, CRO, or academic labs is preferred but not required
  • Good organizational and time management skills, with attention to details
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Chinese and English
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
