As Government Affairs & Policy Manager MedTech for Colombia you are responsible for actively assess, influence, and shape the rapidly evolving policy environment in close collaboration and partnering with internal key stakeholders.

For you to be successful in the role you need to be able to both anticipate issues and serve the needs of the business in such a way that they are able to sustain and grow. This role requires a pro-active, team-oriented, and creative leader who is driven to shape public policy and contribute to market development, growth strategies, and market access.

We are looking for talent that have a proven track record of creating value for the business, developing and driving innovative initiatives, and strengthening corporate reputation among policymakers and key external partners in compliance with the highest ethical standards, local laws, and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Also, you are expected to have a thorough understanding of the policy making processes in both the Executive and Legislative bodies, knowledge about trade association management, and a clear reading of the political scenario.

Key internal responsibilities

  • Develop solid, comprehensive, and actionable advocacy plans to advance business priorities; ensure proper alignment with the local team, Colombian Country Manager and with GA&P Director and coordinate with other functions, such as HEMA, Legal, Regulatory Affairs, and Commercial & MKT.
  • Map major policy trends and find opportunities and risks for the businesses; provide analysis and recommendations for action, both on the policy and business fronts
  • Support the Country Manager at industry trade associations and other organizations, providing insights and strategy recommendations
  • Develop high-quality briefing materials, talking points, and presentations, both in Spanish and English

Key External responsibilities

  • Take on leadership positions at trade associations and relevant organizations to ensure that MedTech business priorities are taken into full consideration
  • Create an engagement plan with the more representative government officials for the healthcare system
  • Meet with high-level government officials and members of Congress; deliver MedTech´s view on policy matters
  • Maintain a network of relationships with think tanks and leading opinion leaders in the field of health care and public health
  • Represent MedTech at public fora, events, and seminars
  • Monitoring, analysis and develop an advocacy plan mitigating the risk and taking opportunities related to issues related to: political and policy environment, health reform, value-based healthcare policies and pricing policies among others.
  • Shaping the external environment, participating in policy engagement and thought leadership.
  • Implement a presidential pre-elections & elections strategy, including creation of possible scenarios and actively participating in healthcare system discussions.
  • Lead projects and/or initiatives with local governments, guaranteeing adequate execution in alignment with business priorities.

Professional Qualifications:

  • 7 + years’ experience in working along with Colombian Government and deep knowledge in the healthcare System. The experience in the healthcare system with focus medical devices is desirable.
  • 5 +years in government affairs and policy field is desirable
  • Experience in high level direction of MoH or government institutions is very desirable
  • Knowledge of issues around market access and health technology assessments, regulatory and legal systems are of key importance
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken). A university degree is required, a Master’s degree is highly desirable
