Job Description – Senior Clinical Operations Specialist


Position Summary
The Senior Clinical Operations Specialist – Spine is an experienced individual contributor responsible for driving sales growth, product adoption, and clinical excellence within the assigned territory. This role works independently with minimal supervision and plays a critical role in capital equipment and implant sales, in-theatre case support, and key account development.

The incumbent partners closely with surgeons, operating room staff, distributors, and internal cross‑functional teams to execute territory strategies, support complex spine procedures, and deliver sustainable business results. This position is suitable for candidates with strong spine product knowledge and hands‑on clinical selling experience.

This role is eligible for sales incentives and may require flexible working hours including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical and Sales Support
  • Promote and sell DePuy Synthes Spine implants, instruments, and capital equipment to meet or exceed assigned sales targets.
  • Develop and execute territory business plans, including account prioritization, pipeline management, and forecasting.
  • Identify new business opportunities and growth drivers within hospitals, private clinics, and key accounts.
  • Support capital equipment installations, evaluations, and conversions.
  • Clinical & Educational Support
  • Provide onsite operating room support for spine procedures, including pre‑operative planning, intra‑operative troubleshooting, and post‑case follow‑up.
  • Demonstrate deep product knowledge to support surgeons on indications, techniques, and system usage.
  • Act as a trusted clinical partner to surgeons, ensuring safe and effective product utilization.
  • Relationship & Account Management
  • Build and maintain strong, long‑term professional relationships with surgeons, nurses, hospital staff, and distributors.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for assigned accounts, ensuring high customer satisfaction and service excellence.
  • Support distributor training and alignment on product, pricing, and compliance standards.
  • Crossfunctional & Business Support
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Supply Chain, and Operations on product launches, inventory planning, and demand management.
  • Provide market intelligence, competitive insights, and customer feedback to internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure accurate customer account documentation, sales reporting, and compliance with company policies and ethical standards.
  • Demonstrate Johnson & Johnson’s Credo and Leadership Imperatives in all daytoday interactions.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Degree in Science, Biomedical Engineering, Nursing, or related discipline is an advantage.

Experience and Skills

  • 3–5 years of sales experience in medical devices, preferably within Spine.
  • Proven experience in:
  • Implant selling/Capital equipment selling
  • Operating room / case support
  • Track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets is strongly preferred.

  • Self‑motivated, proactive, and results‑driven, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity, accountability, and customer focus.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, field‑based environment and flexible to work irregular hours, including weekends, when required.
