We are searching for the best talent for Principal Engineering Technician

Purpose:

Under direct, medium, or no supervision, documents and develops technical functions of low, medium, or high complexity related to testing, quality control, layout, manufacturing, modification, and assembly of mechanical equipment and/or its components. Performs electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, and testing activities in areas such as Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Testing, and Development. Builds, inspects, calibrates, adjusts, verifies, and performs maintenance on equipment, components, artifacts, and systems.

If applicable to a CSS position, the role supports ETHICON and Cardiovascular and Specialty Solutions (CSS) businesses within the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, across multiple product platforms including General Surgical Devices, Sutures, ENT, Infection Prevention, Electrophysiology, and Surgical and Non-Surgical Aesthetics.

You will be responsible for:

In accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:

  • Provides support to Principal Technicians or Engineers in matters related to the discipline.

  • Follows standardized procedures to perform assigned tasks when applicable.

  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.

  • Initiates, adjusts, and operates laboratory and manufacturing equipment.

  • Completes all environmental and safety training required for the discipline.

  • Prepares technical reports of moderate complexity using graphics and diagrams to describe and illustrate operating characteristics, test results, dysfunctions, design specification deviations, and functional limitations.

  • Troubleshoots systems, components, and electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, or installation-related equipment.

  • Performs operational diagnostic testing, isolates failures, identifies solutions, carries out corrective actions, and documents all changes.

  • Ensures tools and testing equipment are properly calibrated and maintained according to established procedures.

  • Supports and/or performs equipment and fixture quotation activities required for purchasing processes.

  • Supports equipment installation and validation activities within the assigned area.

  • Provides support for Statistical Process Control (SPC) activities where applicable.

  • Supports and/or generates Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).

  • Supports the introduction of equipment and fixtures into clean room environments in compliance with established procedures and requirements, including maintenance, preventive maintenance, and calibration requirements.

  • Documents daily activities in eCMMS or other designated systems.

  • Communicates business-related issues and opportunities to the appropriate management level.

  • Complies with all company Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements.

  • When applicable, ensures supervised personnel comply with Health, Safety, and Environmental standards and have the required resources available.

  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Knowledge and skills necessary to successfully perform the responsibilities of the position.

  • Eight to ten years of related experience preferred.

  • High School diploma, Technical Degree, or equivalent.

  • Training in two or more of the following disciplines is preferred: electronics, mechanics, production, electromechanics, testing, quality, statistical process control, biomedical, or industrial disciplines.

  • Current or previous experience in the medical device industry is preferred.

  • Approximately 70% English proficiency is desirable.

  • Ability to read and understand technical documentation related to the discipline.

  • Knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and ISO standards is preferred.

  • Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance, documentation practices, calibration procedures, and quality systems is preferred.

  • Ability to use computers and related software applications.

  • Ability to use measuring and testing equipment associated with the discipline.

  • Knowledge of internal campus information systems is preferred.

  • Ability to successfully complete departmental and corporate manufacturing training programs.

  • Ability to use the internal documentation change control system (CPDM).
