We are searching for the best talent for the Senior Maintenance Technician to be based in Sassenheim. You will join a newly commissioned site to keep biotech manufacturing equipment, production assets, and utilities safe, reliable, and operational, supporting the local Sassenheim team and the larger Leiden maintenance department (80 FTE); this is a shift role (16/7) with 37.3 effective working hours per week and a 26.19% shift allowance — your hands‑on work will shape site readiness and manufacturing success while you collaborate across teams and occasionally support Leiden colleagues!
You will be responsible for:
- Execute preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on manufacturing equipment and utility installations, and formally hand over completed work to equipment/utility owners to maintain production continuity.
- Lead advanced second-line troubleshooting and analyze complex failures, sharing clear findings with colleagues and contractors to reduce repeat downtime.
- Lead and participate in root cause investigations and reliability improvement initiatives, proposing and implementing changes that increase equipment availability.
- Record troubleshooting results, fault trees, code analysis, and materials used in the CMMS; determine spare part needs and manage parts retrieval to minimize delays.
- Set priorities with operations, support and coordinate external service providers during maintenance activities, and contribute to installation, commissioning, and qualification of new equipment.
- Mentor less experienced technicians, maintain accurate maintenance documentation, perform periodic checks and LOTO activities, and ensure all work follows safety, compliance, and GMP standards.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- MBO 3/4 level or VAPRO B/C in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or Measurement & Control Technology.
- 3–8 years of hands‑on experience in a maintenance or technical environment with proven ability to locate, analyze, and resolve malfunctions.
- Strong understanding of production equipment and utility systems, with good judgment on when to escalate based on operational risk.
- Practical proficiency with CMMS and MS Office for recording maintenance activities and reporting.
- Holds NEN certification or is willing to obtain it, and possession of a valid B driving license.
- Collaborative communicator with a proactive, results‑oriented mindset, strong teamwork skills, and a clear focus on quality and safety.
At Johnson & Johnson, we want every candidate to feel supported throughout the hiring process. Our goal is to make the experience clear, fair, and respectful of your time.
Here’s what you can expect:

- Final steps: For successful candidates, you will need to complete country-specific checks before starting your new role. We will help guide you through these.
