The National Sales Director-Lung is a senior commercial leader accountable for translating brand strategy into exceptional field execution and delivering business performance. The role leads and develops the sales organization, shapes commercial strategy through customer and market insights, and partners cross-functionally to accelerate market access and adoption. This leader combines commercial leadership, customer orientation, strategic thinking, talent development, and execution excellence to lead effectively in a complex, matrixed healthcare environment.



Key Responsibilities:

Business & Commercial Leadership

  • Lead the development and execution of the national sales strategy to drive market access, adoption, demand, and revenue.
  • Translate brand strategy and market intelligence into clear field priorities and disciplined execution.
  • Lead sales planning and execution, ensuring the organization is positioned to meet or exceed business objectives.
  • Integrate customer insights and voice of the customer into commercial and brand strategy.
  • Identify opportunities to innovate and strengthen competitive performance in complex and evolving markets.

Customer & Market Leadership

  • Maintain a deep understanding of customers, market dynamics, the U.S. healthcare environment, and evolving barriers to access and adoption.
  • Use market data, customer insights, and business intelligence to optimize targeting, resource allocation, and commercial execution.
  • Represent the field perspective in brand planning and longer-range commercial planning.
  • Build organizational capability to anticipate market changes and convert insights into action.

People & Talent Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing and diverse sales organization.
  • Build a strong pipeline of future sales and commercial leaders.
  • Lead effectively through complex talent and organizational situations.
  • Create an environment that reinforces accountability, development, collaboration, and strong execution.
  • Cultivate talent and implement innovative approaches that support business growth and organizational adaptability.

Cross-Functional & Enterprise Leadership

  • Partner across Brand, Marketing, Market Access, Strategic Accounts, and other commercial functions to connect strategy with execution.
  • Influence within a highly matrixed environment and align stakeholders around business and customer priorities.
  • Bring field insights into strategic decision-making and help shape commercial priorities.
  • Demonstrate broad enterprise thinking beyond the immediate sales organization.

Digital, Data & AI Leadership

  • Leverage AI, market data, analytics, and advanced insights to strengthen targeting, decision-making, and field execution.
  • Champion appropriate use of AI-enabled solutions to convert insights into commercial strategies.
  • Build organizational capability to use data and technology to improve customer engagement and accelerate business results.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of commercial experience within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, or related industry.
  • Minimum of 8 years of people leadership experience, including demonstrated success leading, coaching, and developing high-performing teams and leadership talent.
  • Proven experience developing and executing sales and commercial strategy, translating strategy into field execution, and delivering strong business results.
  • Demonstrated success leading and influencing within a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Deep customer orientation with experience leveraging customer insights, market intelligence, and an outside-in perspective to inform commercial strategy and execution.
  • Strong understanding of the U.S. healthcare system and evolving market dynamics impacting customer engagement, access, and adoption.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage data, analytics, market intelligence, and AI-enabled solutions to generate insights, inform decisions, and improve commercial execution.
  • Experience partnering cross-functionally across Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Strategic Accounts, and other commercial functions.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully leading through complex business, organizational, and talent situations.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Demonstrated breadth across multiple commercial leadership roles, therapeutic areas, or market environments.
  • Experience across more than one commercial discipline, such as Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Strategic Accounts, or Strategy & Operations.
  • Experience leading in launch, growth, and/or highly competitive market environments.
  • Strong understanding of brand finance, business planning, and longer-range commercial planning.
  • Demonstrated track record of developing current and pipeline talent and strengthening organizational capability.
  • Experience leading innovative commercial initiatives and translating customer and market insights into measurable business impact.
  • Experience building team AI literacy and confidence, reinforcing trusted and responsible AI use and sound judgment is preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to learning emerging technologies, such as AI, through exploration, iteration, and applying new tools over time is preferred.
