Job Description:

The employee understands the company’s and division’s annual goals and how their performance can contribute to achieving them.

Job Purpose

The Cost Management Analyst is a regional individual contributor responsible for cost planning, analysis, reporting, and controls, as well as purchase order administration for Distribution & Transportation across LAN & CENCA. The role integrates financial and operational data, identifies trends and root causes, develops scenarios, and formulates recommendations to support leadership decisions. The incumbent works independently within defined processes, resolves moderately complex situations, and coordinates with Delivery, Finance, Procurement, Operations, Accounts Payable, and logistics providers. The role has no direct reports and no final authority over expense approvals, vendor selection, contracts, or policy changes; material matters are escalated to the appropriate leader.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consolidate and validate inputs for the annual budget, periodic forecasts, and long-range planning for Distribution & Transportation across LAN & CENCA.
  • Analyze actual results versus budget, forecast, and prior year; quantify variances, link them to operational drivers, document root causes, and recommend actions.
  • Develop financial models and scenarios to assess volume, inflation, foreign exchange rates, tariffs, productivity, network alternatives, and sourcing decisions.
  • Manage assigned key performance indicators, dashboards, accruals, forecasts, and reports, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and timely delivery; prepare concise executive presentations on performance, risks, and opportunities.
  • Evaluate cost to serve by country, route, customer, channel, warehouse, carrier, and third-party logistics provider; validate baselines and business cases for savings and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Review transportation, warehousing, accessorial, and other logistics charges against contracts, approved rates, accruals, allocations, and supporting documentation; resolve exceptions.
  • Create, modify, and track purchase orders in designated systems; monitor balances, service receipts, validity, closure, and procure-to-pay documentation. Expense, vendor, and contract approvals remain with the designated authorities.
  • Coordinate with Finance, Procurement, Accounts Payable, Operations, and vendors to resolve invoice-to-pay discrepancies, and support tenders, negotiations, renewals, and rate reviews through spend analysis and scenario modeling.
  • Execute assigned financial and operational controls, maintain audit-ready evidence, identify process gaps, and follow up on approved corrective actions.
  • Facilitate cross-functional cost reviews, document actions and commitment dates, manage multiple priorities with limited supervision, and escalate material or unprecedented matters.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Typically, 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, cost control, supply chain finance, logistics analytics, transportation, warehousing, or a comparable function; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in accordance with local policy.
  • Working knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, accruals, variance analysis, financial modeling, business cases, and internal controls.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; hands-on experience with SAP or a comparable enterprise resource planning system.
  • Strong analytical, data integrity, documentation, communication, and stakeholder influencing skills.
  • Ability to work independently on defined assignments, manage concurrent deadlines, recognize limits of authority, and escalate in a timely manner.
  • Professional proficiency in English and Spanish for regional interaction and reporting.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to collaborate across countries, cultures, time zones, and functions within LAN & CENCA, with availability for occasional domestic and international travel.
  • Experience with third-party logistics providers, freight management systems, freight invoice audits, or regional supply chain operations is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Lean, continuous improvement, process automation, or project management is preferred.
