Why this role?
We are rethinking how content is created, managed, and used across EMEA. This role plays an important part in making that work in practice.
It sits at the intersection of commercial, medical, and digital teams, connecting strategy with day-to-day execution. The focus is not only on defining how content should work, but on making sure it is adopted, used consistently, and delivers real impact over time.
What the role looks like
The EMEA Content Excellence Director is accountable for owning and continuously evolving the end-to-end content strategy and operating model for planning, creating and improving content, across the region. This includes defining a clear content approach, setting standards, and translating this into ways of working that teams can apply in practice. Having a clear content approach, setting standards, and translating this into scalable ways of working that teams can apply in practice. A key part of the role is guiding and supporting adoption at scale across markets and functions, ensuring these ways of working are embedded and sustained over time.
The role acts as a regional reference point for content excellence, providing guidance and clarity across stakeholders in Commercial, Medical, Legal, Regulatory, and IT and enabling consistent, compliant, and high-quality content delivery.
There is also a strong focus on performance. The role looks at how content is performing, where improvements can be made, and how efficiency and quality can be increased - for example through reuse, modular content, and smarter use of technology.
Content and operating model
A significant part of the work is shaping how content processes are organised. This includes defining how decisions are made, how teams collaborate, and how workflows are structured. Moving away from fragmented or local approaches towards more consistent and scalable ways of working is a key objective.
At the same time, it requires understanding where markets differ and ensuring enough flexibility to reflect local needs.
Content.AI and innovation
The role also supports the use of AI in content creation and management. The focus is on making sure these technologies are used in a responsible and practical way, helping teams work more efficiently, while staying within regulatory and quality requirements. New use cases and improvements are explored over time, always balancing innovation with what is realistic and sustainable in a regulated environment.
The role works closely with technology, data, and AI teams to influence the roadmap and evolution of content and AI capabilities, ensuring they meet business needs.
Working with stakeholders
This position works closely with senior stakeholders across functions and markets. It involves creating alignment, supporting decision-making, and helping teams adopt new ways of working. Clear communication and practical guidance are important, especially when changes impact how teams plan and deliver their work.
External partners, such as agencies or technology providers, also play a role and are aligned with the same standards and expectations.
Transformation and change
The role is closely linked to ongoing transformation efforts across the organisation. Rather than focusing only on design, the emphasis is on implementation and what happens afterwards: adoption, consistency, and long-term impact. This includes understanding where resistance may exist, addressing it, and supporting teams through change.
Team leadership
In this role you will manage a team and support their development over time. This includes setting direction, providing clarity, and creating an environment where people can contribute and grow.
This role is a good fit for someone who brings
A degree in business, marketing, digital technologies, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent is a plus.
+ 10 years of experience in senior roles within digital, customer, content, or business transformation.
A track record of leading enterprise or regional transformations, not only functional or local initiatives.
Experience driving adoption and behaviour change at scale, including navigating resistance and aligning senior stakeholders.
Experience combining operating model design with execution: governance, capabilities, ways of working, and performance measurement.
Exposure to multiple functions such as digital, CRM, business intelligence, or operations.
Experience working with multiple regional stakeholders in a matrixed environment.
Experience embedding AI-enabled or automated content workflows into day-to-day ways of working.
Experience in regulated industries; pharmaceutical or healthcare background is strongly preferred.
Technical understanding
A good understanding of content lifecycle management, modular content, reuse, and governance.
Familiarity with AI and automation in content creation, review, and optimisation.
Awareness of emerging digital trends and technologies.
Experience defining and tracking KPIs using reporting or BI tools such as Power BI.
A natural interest in adopting and promoting responsible use of AI.
Leadership
Experience leading and developing a team (this role has 5+ direct reports).
A collaborative leadership style, comfortable working across cultures, functions, and seniority levels.
What we offer
We offer the opportunity to shape how content is used across the region and to contribute to broader transformation efforts. The environment is collaborative and evolving, with space to test, learn, and improve over time.
