Summary:

The VP will lead the way as we build a world-class portfolio of precision medicine assets, leveraging the power of Precision Medicine for patient identification leveraging data and AI technologies. This leader will also be responsible for global commercial execution of Precision Medicine strategies for our upcoming commercial launches.

The VP Global Precision Medicine will be a deep expert in Precision Medicine, commercial execution of Precision Medicine strategies and tactics and have a deep understanding of executing commercial partnerships with Precision Medicine companies and the Precision Medicine ecosystem (alliances, communities of practice, industry associations etc). This leader will have end-to-end Precision Medicine commercial strategy responsibilities across J&J and will cover all therapeutic areas. As we realize the rapidly increasing potential of precision medicine enabled medicines to directly impact millions of patients, building world-class global precision medicine capabilities will be a key differentiator to our business growth in the coming years.

The VP Global Precision Medicine, GCSO, will be a member of the Global Commercial Data Digital and AI Department and will lead the creation and execution of robust precision medicine commercial strategies, creating an industry leading global precision medicine capability and talent network. This individual will work closely with the Chief Global Commercial Data, Digital and AI Officer, World-Wide Therapeutic Area VPs, the Chief Global Medical Affairs Officer, the Chief Market Access and Pricing Officer, and other senior leaders in GCSO to drive our precision medicine portfolio transformation and optimize our global go-to-market (GTM) launch planning strategies. They will also ensure close R&D, Regional Business and J&J Business Development (JBD) alignment to ensure that innovative and highly strategic decisions and investments in precision medicine are made from end-to-end.

The VP Global Precision Medicine will work in close partnership with the R&D VP Oncology Diagnostics and Precision Medicine, VP Precision Medicine and Enabling Technology (JBD), Regional Precision Medicine Leaders, senior global and regional Commercial and Medical Affairs leaders, and other key functional areas such as Legal, J&J Technology and Global Regulatory Affairs, to co-create and execute on global precision medicine strategies. The position will also be accountable for developing, participating, and/or co-Chairing Steering and Executive Committees for major strategic external diagnostics partnerships. The candidate will also be recognized internally and externally as a leader in precision medicine based on a solid track record of appearances and interviews at the national and international level.

The VP Global Precision Medicine will lead all strategy and execution of companion and complementary diagnostics (CoDx) for all Therapeutic Areas (TA’s) and all aspects of global commercialization (project evaluation, commercialization, medical/scientific strategy, partnerships, launch planning) for all global markets.

Specific areas of responsibility include:

  • Be the primary representative to drive our Global Precision Medicine strategy for GCSO across Global Commercial, Regional Businesses, R&D, JBD, and all Enterprise Functions, including direct interactions with Group Operating Committee members including Global Commercial and Regional Company Group Chairs, Head of R&D and Head of J&J Business Development

  • Accelerate and maximize the impact of our Go To Market strategies by working closely with all regional businesses and driving those learnings earlier into R&D and GCSO GTM planning efforts

  • Identify and lead efforts to innovate and advance our global commercial model by adopting and establishing industry best practices for competitive advantage with new product launches that are enabled by CoDx

  • Provide overall global commercial and medical/scientific strategy leadership and direction to direct report team and to regional CoDx leaders

  • Demonstrate outstanding leadership by coaching, inspiring and developing the Precision Medicine Team, and others across the organization, to create a highly-functioning team environment that is recognized inside and outside the company

  • Chair the J&J Global Commercial Precision Medicine Steering Committee

  • Lead cross-TA strategies and non-asset strategies for CoDx e.g., non-asset disease level strategies

  • Develop and implement consistent processes for identifying, assessing and selecting CoDx Development and commercialization partners

  • Identify and lead the establishment of strategic Commercial partnerships including representation on Joint Steering Committees for external collaborations and partnerships

  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI and Data to drive patient identification and commercial opportunity assessments.

  • Contribute to develop and execute a comprehensive data strategy for precision medicine initiatives, encompassing data collection, integration, analysis, and utilization to drive insights and decision-making

Qualifications

  • A B.S. degree required; M.S./PhD/Pharm D preferred

  • A minimum of 12 years of professional experience in precision medicine is required

  • Previous senior level diagnostics/precision medicine commercial experience is required

  • Expertise using Data and AI to drive Precision Medicine commercial strategy and execution is required

  • Experience with CoDx landscapes and healthcare systems required

  • Outstanding leadership experience and a strong track record of building and leading high-functioning teams

  • Strong commercial acumen and experience in a commercial business setting required

  • Experience working with medical and scientific affairs organizations is required

  • Solid technical background in diagnostics required

  • Significant Diagnostics/Assay development knowledge and experience required

  • Understanding of drug development and commercialization processes including understanding of clinical development, outcomes research and health economics required

  • Proven ability to analyze and interpret clinical trial and other published clinical data required

  • Experience successfully managing and leading cross-functional teams is required

  • Experience leading projects or partnerships with R&D and Global Markets with a clear track record of success is required

  • Proven leadership and management of large, complex projects required

  • Ability to thrive in a large matrix organization to drive projects to conclusion required

  • Ability to handle complex tasks independently and knowledge of when to seek guidance required

  • Strong strategic and analytical skills with a solution-oriented mindset required

  • Track record of successfully leading and executing multiple global strategic priorities required

  • Ability to create an environment where others are enabled to: identify new ways of working, take bold action with sense of urgency, celebrate and reward those who take calculated risks, learn from mistakes and make informed decisions, and support a progressive learning culture that pushes boundaries and drives decisive action is required

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Experience in AI, digital technologies and data is preferred

  • Experience in Market Access roles is preferred

  • Position requires domestic and international travel as needed.

The anticipated pay range is $199,000-$366,850.

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).

This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.

Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

  • Vacation –120 hours per calendar year

  • Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado –48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year

  • Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year

  • Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year

  • Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child

  • Bereavement Leave – 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year

  • Caregiver Leave – 80 hours in a 52-week rolling period10 days

  • Volunteer Leave – 32 hours per calendar year

  • Military Spouse Time-Off – 80 hours per calendar year
