The program

Accelerate your leadership and professional skills as you help impact the future of health with J&J’s Procurement Leadership Development Program (PLDP). Starting within one of our operating companies or at our World Headquarters, you could work within supply chain procurement, commercial procurement, R&D procurement, business and corporate services procurement or global services. After a year, you’ll rotate to one of these areas where you’ll complete challenging projects that make meaningful impact across several strategic business initiatives.

The opportunity

  • A three-year, full-time, rotational program designed to fill our pipeline of future leaders. The program is based on a model of education, experience and exposure
  • An integrated curriculum that includes functional and leadership training, senior leader mentorship, formal leadership assessment and mentoring, numerous networking opportunities.
  • Culminates in a year-long “capstone” project in support of a key business challenge strategic to the procurement function
  • Partner with the category teams and category leaders in developing and implementing strategies to drive value from the supplier base
  • Conduct in-depth research on existing and emerging trends, identify new technology/solutions, screen potential suppliers, and perform complex analytical studies
  • Manage relationships and negotiations with key suppliers
  • Provide internal consulting services to adjacent functions such as marketing, R&D, operations, logistics, legal and corporate services

As a PLDP participant, you’ll have extensive access to senior leadership at Johnson & Johnson, including your own senior-level mentor who can provide valuable insight and counsel throughout the experience. You’ll fine-tune your leadership skills by preparing and delivering presentations, participating in immersion events and summits, networking—and so much more.

The PLDP internship program

The PLDP Internship Program is a 10- to 12-week internship with Johnson & Johnson’s procurement team in which you’ll take on an individual project challenge or solve a critical business need. You’ll also get to take part in immersion events, attend leadership speaker series, tour manufacturing plants and more.

Who we’re looking for

Our ideal candidates are passionate about everything procurement—but that’s not all. They’re also strategic thinkers with the ability to engage teams, navigate uncertainty and drive results

  • Must be a matriculated student completing their MBA or graduate degree between December 2024 and June 2025
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1-B status) now or in the future
  • Prior full time (40 hours/week) professional work and/or military experience: minimum of 60 months /five years or more
  • Completed course work in supply chain management, operations, or logistics (highly preferred)
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities coupled with strong project management and analytical skills
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills (both oral and written) and capable of interfacing across all levels of the organization
